Watch All The Zombie Heads Explode In This Supercut

In the post-Romero zombie world, the headshot has become the only consistently reliable way to stop the undead. Over the years, countless zombie craniums have been blasted to bits by all manner of firearms. Some executions are graceful, gory, and convincing in their realism, while others are low budget and resemble firecrackers taped to a condom full of red paint. Either way, it’s always a lot of fun. Screen Junkies has put together a two-minute supercut of some of the more memorable zombie headshots in recent memory.

The World’s End Trailer Plays Up The Trilogy

fb share tweet share

Later this summer, The World’s End will bring to a close the much-loved “Cornetto Trilogy” from co-conspirators Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost. This fact is played up in the film’s latest trailer, which also features plenty of new footage to gawk at. The film opens in the U.S. on August 23.

In their previous efforts, Wright and company have sent up both zombie movies with Shaun of the Dead, and high-octane police acitoners with Hot Fuzz. This time around, they’re setting their sights on the sci-fi side of things. When five old, estranged friends — Pegg, Frost, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, and Martin Freeman — get together in their home town to complete an epic pub crawl, things are not quite like they remember them. As in there are crazy, blue-eyed, possibly alien, possibly robot things all over the streets. Usually it’s just a new strip mall.

The World's EndEdgar Wright’s The World’s End is one of the most anticipated movies of the summer. The third and final installment of the Three Flavours Cornetto (Blood and Ice Cream) trilogy is almost nine years in the making, beginning with the release of the zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead in 2004. Universal recently released a set of new character posters from the film, featuring the film’s stars and some of the bars they’ll pass through during their epic pub-crawl to The World’s End.

Two New Posters For Edgar Wright’s The World’s End

The World's End PosterApocalyptic stories are big this year, and this summer the genre is moving into more humorous territory. First we’re getting the star-studded This Is the End. While that looks like it’s going to be a pretty damn good time, the one that many intrepid moviegoers are highly stoked for is The World’s End. Both obviously deal with cataclysmic events that may or may not signify the destruction of our world. Hot on the heels of the first trailer for the film, we now have two new posters for The World’s End.

Hitting theaters on August 23 (July 19 in the UK), The World’s End is the third in Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright’s so-called “Cornetto Trilogy.” They’ve already taken the piss out of zombie movies with Shaun of the Dead, and action extravaganzas with Hot Fuzz, and now the friends have trained their sights on the science fiction realm. If their track record holds, The World’s End will likely function simultaneously as both a send-up and a great example of the genre it seeks to lampoon.

The World’s End International Trailer Serves Up 60 Pints And An Alien Invasion

It has finally arrived, sort of… While Edgar Wright’s The World’s End doesn’t open in the States until the end of August, the science fiction film will be released in the U.K. a month earlier, in July. To build awareness of the film overseas, Universal has released the first teaser trailer for the third and final installment in the Three Flavours Cornetto (Blood and Ice Cream) trilogyThe World’s End.

A few days ago, we posted an article about the new international quad poster for the upcoming sci-fi film. In the post, we speculated about the glowing blue-eyed people in the background of the poster; were they zombies, or aliens? The teaser trailer above revealed that they are some sort of alien race. It looks like something out of Children of the Corn mixed with an alien invasion movie, with lots and lots of drinking.

The World’s End Movie Poster Reveals Creatures With Glowing Blue Eyes

Prepare to get annihilated“Prepare to get annihilated.” Edgar Wright is one of the most exciting directors working in genre movies these days. He has tackled the horror genre with Shaun of the Dead, the action genre with Hot Fuzz, and romantic comedies with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. With his new film The World’s End, Wright will re-team with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to skewer science fiction. Although the film doesn’t come out in the States until August, it will be released a month earlier in England, and Universal Pictures released a new quad poster for The World’s End for the U.K. market.

The quad poster is a bit cheeky, but it does reveal asteroids and zombie-like people or space aliens with glowing blue eyes in the background. One of the first images released from The World’s End featured Gary King (Simon Pegg), Andy Knight (Nick Frost), and crew walking down the street as if they were in Michael Bay’s Armageddon, which would account for the asteroids.

But the blue-eyed critters in the background are a real head scratcher. Back in November 2012, actors Thomas Matthews and Courtney Cornfield tweeted about a possible zombie/alien dance sequence in The World’s End. Will the people in the background of the new quad poster be featured in a Gangnam Style-type choreographed dance sequence? Considering that it’s an Edgar Wright film, I wouldn’t be surprised.
