As Elden Ring nears its February 25 release date, the footage of its character creator has leaked online, and the fans of the highly anticipated action RPG think the game’s developer, From Software, outdid themselves. According to those in love with From Software releases, the new character creation tool looks better than the character creators from the developer’s previous releases, like Bloodborne and Dark Souls III.

As reported by Kotaku, the leaked footage came from a YouTuber named ER-SA, who uploaded the six-minute video showcasing Elden Ring’s character creator. The now-deleted video (removed due to copyright claims) showcased various in-game classes and class-specific settings — most of these are still missing text, most probably because the footage was being ripped from an incomplete build of the game. According to IGN, the leaked character creator footage comes from the closed network test, which took place between November 12-14. With that said, the closed network test didn’t allow gamers to fiddle with the character creation tool; instead, those testing the game were able to choose from a set of five pre-designed characters.

So, how exactly did ER-SA gain access to the character creation tool? Well, we might never find out, and the question fades in comparison to the fandom’s reaction to the character creator itself. Those that had seen the footage (right before it was removed) can confirm that, in its current iteration, Elden Ring character creation looks incredibly good and that the characters created by ER-SA seem much more human-like than in any other video game ever released by From Software. In fact, the fandom agreed that Elden Ring’s graphical fidelity is a considerable improvement over From Software’s other releases, like Dark Souls III.

The fans are excited over the new character creator, stating that Elden Ring actually allows gamers to create genuinely good-looking characters that, as many have noted, actually look human. Of course, a character creator would be complete if it couldn’t contrast those beautiful creations everyone’s buzzing right now and create an absolute monstrosity of a character for your Elden Ring gaming sessions. As a matter of fact, towards the end of his video, the leaker jacked all the sliders in the character creator tool, which resulted in a character with bulging eyes, jaw, and cheekbones.

This is just the latest bit of Elden Ring information we’re seeing before the game releases on February 25. We’ve previously reported on the gameplay footage, which revealed all the environments, and gameplay features players could expect from the upcoming game, including the game’s combat system, magic, and the ability to summon other AI-controlled companions in battle. Gameplay discussions aside, this new graphical fidelity will most likely harness the power of current-gen gaming hardware like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

However, due to the absence of certain consoles from the market, the developers have opted to release the Elden Ring game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X still remain elusive due to massive demands and short supplies because of the disruption in the semiconductor supply chains caused by the ongoing pandemic. The Xbox Series S, Microsoft’s more budget-friendly console, is available for purchase both online and in most brick-and-mortar stores.
