Being one of the most sought-after performers in Hollywood certainly has its advantages, just ask Zendaya. The 26-year-old actress reportedly just inked a massive deal to continue portraying troubled teenager Rue Bennett on the hit HBO series Euphoria, according to Screen Rant. In a move that indicates the company is willing to secure the rising star’s involvement with the show’s third season and beyond at any cost, the Spider-Man: No Way Home actress is expected to make close to $1 million per episode for the show’s latest season.

The monumental deal between Zendaya and HBO was first reported by Matthew Belloni of Puck. Alongside actors like The Terminal List star Chris Pratt and Helen Mirren of the Yellowstone spin-off 1923, he listed the Euphoria alum as one of a “bunch of stars” who have managed to lock in a $1 million paycheck per episode. “I’m told Zendaya just closed a big re-negotiation on HBO’s Euphoria that likely puts her close to that club,” he said.

Although the future of the acclaimed series has seemed rather uncertain since the second season concluded over a year ago, fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The fact that HBO is willing to shell out such a large amount of dough to Zendaya are an indication that the company is invested in the future of the series. After all, what would Euphoria be without its leading lady?

The report of Zendaya’s hefty paycheck per episode comes right on the heels of the bad news that shooting on the hotly anticipated third season of Euphoria has been delayed yet again. Initially, filming on the next installment was expected to begin in February, however, series star Maude Apatow confirmed shooting would likely take place much later in the year. With that said, the third season of the HBO drama won’t likely arrive until 2024.

While Apatow didn’t offer a reason for the shooting delay, we can assume it’s likely due to the fact that cast members like Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney are extremely in-demand right now. Last year, filming on Euphoria season 3 was held up as a result of Zendaya’s hectic shooting schedule on Dune: Part 2. Meanwhile, Sweeney has been hard at work filming the Spider-Man spin-off Madame Web, among other projects.

Euphoria is an American adaptation of the Israeli show of the same name. The series follows the troubled life of 17-year-old Rue Bennett (Zendaya), a drug addict fresh out of rehab with no intention of staying sober. She and her classmates at East Highland High School struggle to make sense of their futures. The series tackles the teenage landscape of substance-enhanced parties and anxiety-ridden day-to-day life with empathy and candor.

In addition to Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney, Euphoria stars Hunter Schafer, Angus Cloud, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, Nika King, Barbie Ferreira, Storm Reid, Eric Dane, Austin Abrams, Algee Smith, Paula Marshall, Alexa Demie, Javon “Wanna” Walton, Alanna Ubach, John Ales, and Tyler Chase.

The award-winning series was created by Sam Levingston, who also serves as the showrunner. Since filming on the show’s third season has yet to begin, there’s no word on when it will arrive on HBO.
