Zack Snyder is building hype for a mysterious DC-related event or project he has in the works, and apparently Henry Cavill is involved. Snyder posted an image of the actor in the Superman suit on his Vero account with a cryptic message about life being a cycle and the dates April 28, 29, and 30th. Snyder posted an image on his Twitter earlier this week that featured similar messaging with a Darkseid voiceover.

Zack Snyder’s Henry Cavill post also contains the acronyms ‘MOS’, ‘BVS’, and ‘ZSJL’, which presumably refer to his Synderverse DC films Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. While fans could certainly hope that all of this teasing is leading to one last DC project from the director, the reality is likely a little less exciting. It seems likely that this tease is for an event that is similar to his 2019 convention dubbed Snyder Con, where he showed films to fans.

This could be Zack Snyder’s way of saying a final goodbye to Snyderverse fans and the DC characters he helped introduce, like Henry Cavill’s Superman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, and Ezra Miller’s Flash. If it turns out to be a Snyder DC convention, fans will be able to enjoy these films on the big screen again before the James Gunn and Peter Safran takeover fully kicks in. While there’s a remote possibility that this could be leading to a new Superman project from Snyder, it seems very unlikely.

When James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the newly dubbed DCU, it was made pretty clear that founding pieces like Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill would be removed from the board. With Gunn planning on kicking off what he’s calling “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters” with a brand new Superman film, it seems unlikely they would muddy the continuity waters with an unrelated project. While the DC Elseworlds projects could hold space for creatives like Snyder and Cavill, there has been nothing up to this point to indicate Gunn has any plans of integrating them into the Elseworlds fold.

DC Elseworlds refers to the offshoot projects of the DCU that aren’t considered part of the main timeline. This allows Warner Bros Discovery to continue making Matt Reeves’ Batverse, the Joaquin Phoenix Joker films, and any other projects they want to greenlight without affecting the continuity of the mainline films. Theoretically, this would allow Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill to continue operating in the DCU under the Elseworlds banner, but again, this is highly unlikely.

If you are one of the diehards who prefer Zack Snyder’s version of the DC film universe and Henry Cavill’s version of Superman, it seems like you might at least get a chance to celebrate their contributions if this event comes to fruition. Nothing has been confirmed yet, and Snyder will probably continue to drop teases leading up to the dates he listed in his posts. We’ll keep you updated on what these teases could mean and any new hints that he decides to drop.
