Now that we’ve made it to November, drama is just around the corner when Yellowstone returns to screens everywhere for what will be the series’s fifth season. Creating a little bit of drama ahead of the premiere, the show’s Instagram account upset some followers by posting what many believed to be a doomful spoiler surrounding one of the most beloved characters – Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler. In the post, which you can see above, the teaser depicts a sweet moment between everyone’s favorite couple, Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly).

The intention behind the clip, which first made rounds back in late September, seemed innocent enough – a sweet birthday celebratory share, cheering the life of the Yellowstone character. But, with things looking pretty grim, many fans are upset with the trouble this could spell out for the happy couple. Continuing to stir the pot of speculation, along with the birthday message, the show’s Instagram caption also told fans to “get ready,” adding that “Something big is coming.”

To say Yellowstone fans were displeased with the show’s big teaser would be an understatement. With what’s been promising to be a bloody upcoming season, followers were left speculating on what exactly the show’s Instagram account meant with their dark look. On the other hand, the post could be one big red herring – misleading viewers into believing that something disastrous will happen to Rip and Beth before completely blindsiding them with the death of another character.

One thing’s for sure – the upcoming season of the Taylor Sheridan created series won’t be holding back on the drama. Recently released trailers for Yellowstone’s fifth season have revealed John Dutton (Kevin Costner) being sworn in as the Governor of Montana only to immediately remove the office’s employees and replace them with folks close to him – including his daughter, Beth who will now serve as the new Chief-of-Staff. With John’s government takeover, Season 5 promises to be the most drama and bullet filled season yet.

First hitting screens back in 2018, Yellowstone was an immediate money maker for everyone involved, quickly leading its creator Taylor Sheridan to expand on the universe of the beloved Dutton family. The first of many spin offs, 1883 took audiences back to the beginnings of the Dutton family’s travels to the big sky country of Montana. Landing on screens back in December 2021, the limited prequel series starred Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sam Elliott, Isabel May, LaMonica Garrett, Marc Rissmann, Audie Rick, Eric Nielsen, and James Landry Hébert.

Seeing that Yellowstone fans welcomed more tales surrounding the ranching family with open arms, Taylor Sheridan announced that 1883 would receive its own sequel titled 1883: The Bass Reeves Story, telling the story of the titular lawman. There’s also the star studded prequel 1923 featuring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford in a story about the family making their way and surviving through the Great Depression, Prohibition, and the Western Expansion. Less talked about is 6666 which will take place in present day Texas at the Four Sixes Ranch.

Along with all of these extra Yellowstone-centered titles in the works, Taylor Sheridan has mentioned his intention to move forward with the decades of 1940 and 1960. It’s clear that Sheridan plans to stretch the story that surrounds the Dutton family out as long as possible. And despite how the much talked about teaser may appear, hopefully they’ll all be with us until the very end.
