Yellowstone 6666

Taylor Sheridan is one busy man, so much so that you’d think he wouldn’t even have time for a show like Yellowstone 6666. The prolific writer/producer and sometimes actor hit the motherlode in 2018 when he brought Kevin Costner and Yellowstone together to form one of the most intriguing television series to air. So it makes sense that he would want to keep expanding on stories, but man is it a ton.

Since its premiere, Sheridan has made time to write and produce shows like Mayor of Kingstown and 1883 as well as feature films like Sicario, Hell or High Water, Wind River, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Without Remorse, and Those Who Wish Me Dead.

To add to that list, Sheridan also has the upcoming Sylvester Stallone series Tulsa King as well as three more Yellowstone spin-offs, Yellowstone: 1923 (which is set to star film legends Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford), Yellowstone 1883: The Bass Reeves Story, and Yellowstone 6666.

It’s that last one we’ll look at here with the news that Yellowstone 6666 was in the works for Paramount. There have been mentions of the ranch in episodes and even a brief visit there. But it looks like we are going to learn a lot more about the ranch, which is actually a real place in Texas.

YELLOWSTONE 6666 WILL TAKE PLACE AT A RANCH IN TEXAS

Can you blame Taylor Sheridan for capitalizing on the Yellowstone name? We can’t. After bringing in huge viewer numbers with both Yellowstone and its first spin-off, 1883, Paramount wisely decided to give Sheridan carte blanche with his creations. His newest creation, while carrying the Yellowstone moniker, will represent a big change from what we’ve seen in the past.

Yellowstone 6666 looks to relocate fans from the wilds of Montana to the flat plains of Texas.

The press release reads as follows: “Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing. The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world-class cowboys are born and made.”

That is about as much as anyone (other than Taylor Sheridan himself) knows. Yellowstone fans may recall in Season 4 how Jimmy (Jefferson White) left the Dutton Ranch in Montana for the 6666 Ranch in Texas. Fans got to see a tiny bit of the 6666 and a possible setup to have Jimmy remain there with his girlfriend Emily (Kathryn Kelly).

But that wasn’t to be as Jimmy returned to the Dutton Ranch and as White explained to US, he has no idea what is in store for Jimmy and Emily.

“We don’t know anything. Listen, I certainly don’t know anything,” White said to US. “I think it’s very funny. People keep expecting me to know what’s going on, and nobody would tell Jimmy anything, right? Like, it feels like another way in which me and Jimmy are similar is that nobody tells me anything. So, I would be incredibly excited to go back to work in Montana. I would be incredibly thrilled to go back to work in Texas.”

It also appears that White likes the surprise of the storylines and doesn’t care to know ahead of time, which translates to he isn’t sure what Yellowstone 6666 entails.

“I’ve really given up on trying to guess. What Taylor Sheridan, the show’s creator — I think one of the best writers in television now or ever, definitely — comes up with is always so much better than what I could come up with,” he added. “So, I’m really excited that Jimmy’s journey continues, and I have no idea where it leads and I’m just kind of ready to try to hold on.” Rest assured, with a ranch steeped in as much history as the 6666, Yellowstone 6666 will have plenty of stories to play with.

JEFFERSON WHITE, KATHRYN KELLY, OR RYAN BINGHAM COULD BE PART YELLOWSTONE 6666 CAST

With the plot being shrouded in mystery, so is the cast. It appeared that White and Kelly were going to be a big part of the Yellowstone 6666 cast, but with them returning as regulars to Yellowstone, their appearance on Yellowstone 6666 is up in the air. There has been no other hint as to who may be joining the series.

Fans were speculating that along with White and Kelly being part of Yellowstone 6666 that perhaps Ryan Bingham’s Walker may also follow to Yellowstone 6666. But this was just speculation and there has been no official word.

YELLOWSTONE 6666 DOES NOT HAVE AN OFFICIAL PREMIERE DATE BUT WILL BE ON PARAMOUNT+

Again, details are light when it comes to Yellowstone 6666. What we do know is that Yellowstone returns for season 5 on November 13, 2022, and the Yellowstone prequel, 1923, will premiere sometime in December 2022. With Yellowstone 6666 not even in production as of yet, don’t expect a premiere before next summer. When it does premiere, though, it will be on the Paramount Network instead of Paramount+.

THE FOUR SIXES IS A REAL PLACE IN TEXAS

If you did not know, Yellowstone 6666 is an actual ranch in Texas called the Four Sixes. It is one of the most storied ranches in US history. The ranch is part of Burnett Ranches LLC. It was founded in 1870 by Samuel “Burk” Burnett after he purchased 100 head of cattle wearing the 6666 brand.

Since its inception, the Four Sixes are best known for their superior Angus cattle and their legendary quarter horses. Along with that, the Four Sixes offers a complete range of equine veterinary services and state-of-the-art reproductive services as well. Over its many years, the ranch has produced some of the best ranch, race, and sale horses in the country.

The Four Sixes has been part of the Burnett family since the beginning. It sits on nearly 270,000 acres and includes 119 pastures of various sizes with 18 solar wells, 29 windmills, and 10 submersibles with 66 tubs. A ranch this size, as you can imagine, takes quite a few bodies to run it properly. They typically employ 50 to 100 and of those, 20 or so are full-time cowboys.

Through the years, the ranch eventually landed in the hands of Anne Burnett Marion, the great-granddaughter of Burk Burnett. She ran the ranch wonderfully and was beloved by the state of Texas. Anne was a Fort Worth leader and got the ball rolling for the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and was also the founder of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Anne was a billionaire and sadly passed at the age of 81 in 2020.

Per the terms of Anne’s will, for the first time in the ranch’s history, it would be put up for sale. Can you guess who bought it? The ranch sold for $341 million to Taylor Sheridan on January 21, 2022. It was the first time the ranch had been put up for sale and the first time the owner was someone from outside of the Burnett family. Sheridan’s plan is to honor the legacy of the ranch and the family who owned it by not changing a thing about it. Well, he does plan on filming the bulk of Yellowstone 6666 at the Four Sixes.
