The Most Extreme Athlete’s Biopic Canceled Because Of Abuse Allegations?
It looks like Wim Hof could be in some hot water, which is a stark contrast to what the extreme athlete has been known for over the last many years. The latest reporting has it that a biopic set to explore Dutchman’s life and extreme undertakings has been put on hold for the time being. This stems from domestic abuse allegations levied towards Hof from an ex-partner. Wim Hof has denied these publicly.
Wim Hof Allegations
These allegations against Wim Hof come from an ex-partner who claims How abused her physically and mentally over a 13-year period. She names their shared son and her two children from a previous marriage as other victims of abuse.
He has denied this and even countersued for defamation of character over the claims.
Wim Hof Is The Iceman
The Wim Hof biopic was set to explore the life of the extreme athlete who has become synonymous with his nickname “The Iceman”. The latter is thanks to his ability to withstand unbelievably extreme cold temperatures in a variety of different conditions and circumstances.
Originally, the Wim Hof biopic had Joseph Fiennes in the lead role and Kevin Macdonald as the director. The plans for this stem all the way back to 2022, when word first came out that a movie was in the works.
The Iceman was to follow Wim Hof’s life from a widower father working as a postman to becoming a world-renowned health and fitness guru while supporting his four children.
The Wim Hof Method
Wim Hof is most famous for creating and popularizing the Wim Hof Method, which combines breathing techniques with cold therapy as part of a health regimen. This method is said to help with health and mood while reducing stress and anxiety.
There have been other claims of better sleep, increased energy levels, and, of course, improved cold tolerance. Along with breathing and cold therapy, there are a number of different mindset aspects that go into the Wim Hof Method.
Crazy Feats And Records
Over the years, Wim Hof has gained fame not only for his health and wellness training but also for the crazy feats he’s performed.
He climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in shorts, ran a half marathon in the Arctic Circle barefoot and just stood around in ice for hours and hours. Along these lines, the dude very much appears to be built different.
Wim Hof also holds a number of entries in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest swim under ice and longest full-body contact with ice (almost two hours). Again, built different.
Biopic On Hold
It remains to be seen what happens with the Wim Hof Iceman biopic and if things are just on hold while this case works its way through the legal system.
It’s important to note that the news had the movie simply on hold for the time being rather than outright canceled by the studios, Genesius Pictures, and Cornerstone Films.
We might still get to see Joseph Fiennes shirtless and surrounded by layers and layers of ice before it’s all said and done.
