A Wheel of Fortune contestant experienced one of the show's most embarrassing moments when she guessed the wrong letter on an obvious answer.

There have been some awfully embarrassing moments in syndicated television, but a recent round of Wheel of Fortune is being dubbed as one of the worst in the show’s long-running history. One contestant made the error of a lifetime when she completely missed out on what felt like low-hanging fruit of an answer on the popular series. Twitter user and avid gameshow enthusiast @ChadMosher tweeted about the incident on Monday, February 20.

The tweet reads: “I don’t think I’ve ever heard a single audience member audibly have such a violent reaction on Wheel of Fortune, as this lady did when a poor contestant called a G in ‘Fresh.'” Attached to it is a clip from Monday night’s episode of Wheel of Fortune.

The clip starts off with the words “FRE– –  TROPICAL FRUIT” on the board and contestant Khushi guessing. After Khushi correctly guesses the “H” it seems like she’s home free, as she’s left with “FRE– H  TROPICAL FRUIT” on the board. Still, host Pat Sajak asks if she wants to solve it or spin it.

Now, to everyone’s surprise, instead of guessing an “S,” poor Khushi does something else entirely. She ends up going with a “G,” and a singular Wheel of Fortune audience member was especially incredulous. In the clip, you can hear one audience member screaming out, “What?” as Khushi looks over at them off-camera, obviously a bit startled, before the rest of the audience chimes in with a resounding groan.

As we can surmise, the phrase was not “FREGH TROPICAL FRUIT,” and she ended up missing out on the phrase entirely.

In Khushi’s defense, this was a tense moment that many people have never been in before. Competing on a national television show like Wheel of Fortune can bring an intense kind of pressure that can totally scramble your brain. Still, this felt like a catastrophic biff on what felt like an assured home run.

A contestant named Juliana comes in afterward and easily guesses what feels like to viewers the obvious “FRESH TROPICAL FRUIT.” Not only does she correctly guess the word, but she ends up winning a trip to the island of Antigua, where plenty of fresh tropical fruit is sure to be available.

After the embarrassing moment, Wheel of Fortune‘s host Pat Sajak came to Kushi’s aid after recognizing the audience’s poor reaction by noting that sometimes a word that may seem obvious to audience members and at-home viewers isn’t as obvious when you’re put on the spot. It felt like the host’s attempt to comfort Khushi about what felt like an obvious brain fart.

Unfortunately, the round is being called “the biggest choke” in all of Wheel of Fortune history, and that’s saying something, given the show’s decades-long run on television. Created by Merv Griffin, Wheel of Fortune has aired continuously since January 1975, a span of almost 50 years.

Wheel of Fortune is based around a hangman-like format, where contestants compete to fill in the blank letters on a puzzle board and guess a complete phrase before one another. They win or lose cash and prizes depending on the spin of the “Wheel of Fortune.”

Pat Sajak and Vanna White have co-hosted the show since 1981 and 1982, respectively. Still, this might have been one of the worst rounds of Wheel of Fortune that they’ve seen in recent memory. Hopefully, the contestant’s next endeavor in the world of televised game show competitions will be more fruitful than her most recent.
