In 1992, Wesley Snipes took over movie screens for Passenger 57 and let us know that we should always bet on black. As an ex-cop and now airline security expert, Snipes found himself trapped on a passenger plane with terrorists. The plot had a lot in common with Die Hard, only on a plane. It was a box office success and remains one of the classic action movies Wesley Snipes gave us in the 1990s. Now, thirty years later, filming is scheduled for Passenger 58

What do we know so far? We know that the California Film Commission has released a list of 22 movies scheduled to begin filming soon in the state. California has offered tax incentives for productions. This is helping productions get started again post-pandemic lockdowns. On the list of upcoming productions is Passenger 58. Warner Specialty Productions is listed as the production company involved. They were also responsible for Passenger 57. So far, this is all we know about the movie. While the company hasn’t said that Passenger 58 will be a sequel to the Wesley Snipes movie, it isn’t a giant leap to say that the two are connected.

Of course, we don’t yet know if Wesley Snipes will be in this new movie. However, he hasn’t been against sequels in the past. He’s seemed interested in revisiting some of his most popular works in recent years. Some of his most popular movies came out in the ’90s. He starred in comedies like White Men Can’t Jump with Woody Harrelson. The pair’s banter cemented Wesley Snipes as a strong player in comedy, though he is mostly known for his action films. His work in Demolition Man and the Blade series remain some of his most well-known movies

If Wesley Snipes picks up the part of John Cutter for Passenger 58, it’ll be interesting to see if they can rekindle the one liners and action fans appreciated from the first movie. While Passenger 57 had some mixed reviews, it’s still a memorable title from his filmography. The line about betting on black is repeated often enough that people sometimes don’t know where it came from, they just hear it all the time.

Currently, fans are waiting to see Wesley Snipes in the upcoming Eddie Murphy sequel, Coming 2 America. Snipes has been posting on social media and doing interviews for the upcoming release. He plays General Izzi, an eccentric man from a country neighboring Eddie Murphy’s. The pair play off each other in the sequel and Snipes has promised it’s going to be a good time. The comedy is set to release on Amazon Prime on March 5, 2021.

That’s not the only project currently on his plate. Wesley Snipes recently announced that he has joined up with Kevin Hart for a limited series on Netflix. The pair will play brothers for True Story. The eight episodes will have Kevin Hart playing a version of himself. Snipes will be playing his older brother, who has spent a lot of time in and out of jail. The drama will follow the pair as they face the consequences following one particularly bad night. About the new project, Kevin Hart said, “I’ve never been more excited about an acting project in my career. I’ve always been a fan of Wesley Snipes and working with him is mind-blowing.”
