Vincent D’Onofrio seems to be having the time of his life now that he’s part of the MCU proper as Wilson Fisk, New York’s Kingpin of Crime. The Direct reported on a recent panel at Raleigh’s GalaxyCon, where the actor teased a fight with Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man. Kingpin and Spider-Man have been frequently at odds in the comics, and seeing the two face off on the big screen would be a dream come true for comic fans.

Reprising his role in the upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, Vincent D’Onofrio is poised to become a major part of the MCU. When he was first announced as playing Fisk in the Netflix Daredevil series starring Charlie Cox, comic fans had difficulty imagining the lead detective from Law and Order: Criminal Intent as The Kingpin. Today, he’s a fan favorite, and there’s even a push for Kingpin to replace Kang as the big bad of the MCU.

While that might not happen, in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Kingpin had an interest in exploring the multiverse, so if push comes to shove, Kingpin’s Dynasty has a nice ring to it. Then again, he might become the central villain for the New York street-level heroes, a role he’s already filled in Hawkeye and Daredevil, along with the past few years of Marvel comics.

It wasn’t long ago in the pages of the comics that Wilson Fisk became the Mayor of New York City and made life hell for every hero within the city limits. From declaring war on Daredevil, manipulating Spider-Man into doing his bidding, and eventually bringing back The Thunderbolts as his hit squad, Kingpin has the potential to take the MCU in a new direction.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man

Now that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is back to being a street-level following the events of No Way Home, the time is perfect for the two to cross paths. When they do, as Vincent D’Onofrio says, he’s likely to beat Spider-Man, but it won’t be in a physical confrontation, as his villainous Kingpin is more likely to outmaneuver, outthink and take on the wall-crawler from an unexpected angle.

Michael Clarke Duncan played The Kingpin in Ben Affleck’s Daredevil, and he was a very large imposing figure. D’Onofrio is not a small man, but he’s not of the same stature as Duncan, making his version of the iconic character very different, dangerous, and fun to watch. With Tom Holland as the best Spider-Man yet and D’Onofrio as the best Kingpin, let’s hope Marvel sets the two on a collision course.

Daredevil: Born Again won’t premier until next year, but when it does, it will make The Kingpin a major force in the MCU and one that can’t be punched to achieve victory. According to Vincent D’Onofrio, a second season is already being worked on, giving plenty for fans of street-level stories to look forward to in the same MCU filled with immortals, wizards, and living myths.
