Amber Heard Aquaman

Keeping up with the rumors surrounding Amber Heard is a full-time job. Over the past few days, we’ve heard rumors that Heard may have been fired from Aquaman 2 for drug use, which would violate the health clause in her contract. Ryan Parker, a senior writer for The Hollywood Reporter, has updated his followers with the latest news about Heard, which states that the rumors so far haven’t been substantial.

That seems like a firm enough update on the situation, but how long can that update stay relevant? With so many rumors swirling around Amber Heard at all times, it wouldn’t be surprising if two hours from now we heard that she was definitely fired from Aquaman 2. Or, that she was up for a starring role in a new production. There remain too many Amber Heard rumors, and this isn’t even the first time rumors have spread that the actress was fired from the role of Mera. It almost certainly won’t be the last rumor we hear about Heard.

There have been petitions with millions of signatures demanding the firing of Amber Heard from Aquaman 2, hoping that a new actress will take her place. Fans have strongly suggested that Emilia Clarke be the one to play Mera opposite Jason Momoa, partly due to a love for Clarke and Momoa’s chemistry from their time on Game of Thrones, but mostly due to a dislike of Heard. Recently, insiders have said that Heard believes Warner Bros. is encouraging the rumors, saying that Heard believes they’re hoping she will get fed up and quit.

While there are seemingly nonstop rumors about Amber Heard’s involvement with Aquaman 2 and the DC Universe in general, there also continue to be regular updates that she is being considered for other roles. Recently, rumors started to spread of a live-action Tangled movie, with some saying that Heard was being considered as a possible live-action take on the Disney princess.

Amber Heard

Amber Heard hasn’t been in that many major films, however, she’s in the news a lot because of the controversy between her and ex-husband Johnny Depp. Recently, Depp subpoenaed Heard’s ex-boyfriend – Elon Musk – for Depp’s $50 million libel case against the actress.

While the libel case would draw a lot of attention on its own, it’s not the only reason we’re hearing even more about Amber Heard right now. Aquaman 2 is slated to release in theaters on December 16, 2022. Filming hasn’t even begun yet, but is likely to begin soon. If Warner Bros. does decide to replace the actress playing Mera, they only have a little more time to make that happen.

But Warner Bros. has been fairly straightforward when it comes to recent changes in casting, whether with Johnny Depp getting fired from the Fantastic Beasts franchise, or Ray Fisher leaving the DC Universe. If Warner Bros. hasn’t made an announcement saying Amber Heard isn’t involved in Aquaman 2, it seems likely that the actress is still playing Mera for the foreseeable future. As this report from The Hollywood Reporter seems to confirm, there doesn’t look to be any credence to any of the Heard rumors that have been spread so far.
