Coming off his most successful film to date, Tom Holland is steadily returning to the screen after appearing as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home and as a young Nathan Drake in the Uncharted film adaptation. While everyone speculates on whether he returns to the MCU, the actor is continuing his streak as one of the most in-demand young actors in film and TV. However, his most recent role will show Holland like never before. The Crowded Room is a series that is set to take place in the 1970s, and as such, the actor is seen sporting a 70s look to go along with the decade the show takes place in. Complete with long hair and corduroy pants, he looks almost unrecognizable. You can see the photos from him on set below:

Tom Holland has long been sporting his short hair for mostly every role that he has been a part of, but now he is meant to take on the persona of a man in the 1970s named Danny Sullivan. This new character and his new look are loosely based on a real-life man by the name of Billy Milligan. Milligan was the first person to ever be acquitted of murder for having dissociative identity disorder. The 10-part series is being adapted straight from the biography about Billy Milligan called, The Minds of Billy Milligan. Daniel Keyes is the author of this biography, and the new series will borrow from this book as well as bring in moments from Akiva Goldsman’s life. Goldsman is the screenwriter for this series.

The Crowded Room is an anthology series that focuses on the many people who have suffered and dealt with mental illnesses and gives an inspirational take on their lives. The first season is based completely on Billy Milligan, with Tom Holland taking on the starring role for the first season. He is joined by Emmy Rossum, who will play Sullivan’s mom. Rossum was famously in the hit series, Shameless. Sasha Lane, Amanda Seyfried, and Christopher Abbott help to round out the cast. Most of the set images that have been revealed show Holland next to Sasha Lane, as she appears in the series as Sullivan’s best friend, Ariana. The series is currently filming in New York City and is slated for a 2022 release via Apple TV+.

This will be the first since 2015 that Tom Holland holds a recurring role in a television series. His last appearance was that of Gregory Cromwell on the mini-series, Wolf Hall. Though this was long before he became a hot commodity in the MCU world, it’s good to see that he is returning to TV. He looks wildly different than his roles as of late, which bodes well for him garnering more roles that put the actor in new and fresh looks. He has been claiming that his time as Spider-Man is coming to an end, so this could be that period in which Holland plans to branch out much further than he has before. Quite honestly, the young actor looks solid with long hair. He might think about making that look permanent.
