Tom Holland isn’t exactly a small guy, but when standing next to Mark Wahlberg, that may not be the case. Holland revealed in a recent interview that he had to “put on a bit of timber” so that he wouldn’t look so scrawny next to his co-star in the upcoming Uncharted film. Putting on “timber” is just a euphemism for putting on size when working out. That is a bit of good news, as Nathan Drake isn’t exactly the smallest adventurer in games either.

Speaking to Total Film (via Games Radar) Tom Holland went in-depth about his size in comparison to Mark Wahlberg’s. Holland expressed his surprise at how much smaller he was than Wahlberg. “I was in good shape, but I wasn’t by any means big.” Holland goes further by referring to his co-star as “an absolute unit.” A unit is a more contemporary slang term when describing someone or something that is large in stature. Bulking up for the role of a pseudo-Indiana Jones is definitely the way to go. You can see an image from the upcoming film below, with Holland and Wahlberg standing across from each other.

Sony decided to cast Tom Holland to play the lead role in their upcoming live-action film adaptation of the Uncharted series. The casting came as a bit of a surprise as both Nathan Drake and Sully are much older in the initial game. This sets up the chance for future Uncharted films, being that Holland is 25 and is likely playing a much younger version of Nathan Drake. Likewise, Wahlberg is much younger than his character — Sully — is in the games.

Uncharted began as an action-adventure video game released in 2007. The game is based on the adventures of Nathan Drake, who is much like Indiana Jones, except that he seems to kill a lot more people. The first game follows Drake as he means to find the hidden treasure of his ancestor, Sir Francis Drake. Nathan locates a treasure map, which leads him to the lost city of El Dorado aka The City of Gold.

Initial trailers show Tom Holland in full Nathan Drake garb, sporting the beige white long sleeve shirt, gun holster, and greenish pants that Drake is accustomed to wearing throughout the Uncharted series. There is even a scene in which Drake is thrown from an airplane and must fight his way back into said airplane while strapped to cargo ready to crash into the ground. This sequence was taken directly from the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

While Tom Holland fans are no doubt looking forward to the Uncharted movie, fans of the games got their own bit of good news. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and its 2017 expansion Uncharted: The Lost Legacy are being bundled together in the Uncharted Legacy of Thieves collection and remastered for the PS5.

There is no telling how much bigger Tom Holland got for this Uncharted film role, or if there will be much of a difference when the film hits theaters February 18, 2022. Hopefully, Mark Wahlberg and Holland won’t have their shirts off at the same time, cause that might make things plenty awkward.
