Even the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home is months away, it is already bearing the burden of many expectations courtesy of the countless rumors swirling about its possible storyline. MCU fans are already juggling multiple theories about it being about the multiverse, featuring both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s past iterations of Spider-Man along with Tom Holland, and a lot more. And now it has been reported that the post-credits scene of the film will see two Avengers.

As reported by We Got This Covered, the post-credits scene will see Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange and Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, whom we last saw in the last minutes of the finale of Disney+’s WandaVision. In this scene, they will be discussing the multiverse and its far-reaching, dire implications. It has already been heavily rumoured that Spider-Man: No Way Home will focus on the beginning of the multiversal madness and will see Tom Holland as Spider-Man going up against villains from his timeline as from other timelines.

It is already known that Doctor Strange will be seen in the film as a mentor of sorts to Tom Holland as Spidey and it is also expected that Spider-Man 3 will lead into Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Madness, which is scheduled to release mere months after the third Spider-Man flick. It makes sense for it to end with a post-credits scene featuring Doctor Strange pondering about how to rein in the multiverse, recently set into motion by Sophia Di Martino’s Lady Loki in Loki, that will be spinning out of his control. But what makes us question the credibility of this rumor is the possible presence of Wanda in the scene?

How does this tie in with Tom Holland? Well, last we saw the Scarlet Witch, she was living in isolation after breaking down her Hex that effectively ended the existence of Vision and her twins, Billy and Tommy. But while she engaged in mundane activities, her astral form was busy pouring over the Darkhold she got from Agatha Harkness. Just then, she had heard the screams of her sons, seemingly from somewhere in the universe. And it was expected that Wanda would tear apart the fabric of reality to look for them and set off the multiverse in the process. But even though Lady Loki ended up doing the honors, it was still strongly predicted that she would be the one to make the multiverse all chaotic in her search, causing Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch to battle the after-effects in their respective films.

Thus, the possibility that she will be actually helping Doctor Strange in keeping it under control sounds very confusing. It’s possible that she will only be pretending to side with the Supreme Sorceror so that she can keep disrupting the multiverse while searching for her sons and he wouldn’t suspect her. Wanda is due to appear in a major role in Doctor Strange 2 but whether it will be as a superhero or a supervillain is left to be seen. For now, all that can be said with certainty is that Spider-Man 3 will see at least two Avengers: Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.

As for all the rumors, rest assured that a few will definitely be shot down or confirmed by the trailer while the remaining will have to wait for the film’s release on December 17, 2021.
