Thunderbolts Star Says Character Return Will Be Awkward

Hannah John-Kamen revealed Ghost returning to the MCU is going to be awkward as the character is now heavily anti-social.

Hannah John-Kamen, who played Ghost in Ant-Man 2, recently discussed returning to the MCU as Ghost in the Thunderbolts movie. According to John-Kamen, “Well, she doesn’t like to be touched… So that’s going to be interesting. She’s quite socially, well, she’s not social.”

What makes Ghost’s return so awkward is that she appears to not want to be social, especially after the events of Ant-Man 2, which saw the character saved from the Quantum Realm by Janet Van Dyne. Janet was able to give Ghost some of her energy so that it would stabilize Ghost. Ghost’s lack of social skills might play a huge part in her not playing well with the Thunderbolts team, as she is one of the many returning villains and or anti-heroes, we have seen in past Marvel movies.

The entire team for the new Thunderbolts movie is listed as Ghost (Ava Starr), Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Yelena Belova (the new Black Widow), Winter Solider (Bucky Barnes), Taskmaster (Antonia Dreykov), U.S. Agent (John Walker), and Red Guardian (Alexei Shostakov). We just hope Ghost’s condition has improved, and she is not going to hyper paranoid of anyone around her.

The Thunderbolts team, which includes the anti-social Ghost, is going to be seeing their own movie head to the MCU in 2024. We are not sure if any of the members will be appearing at any other time between that, but we would say that is a safe bet. The Phase 5 and Phase 6 movies and shows have been outlined so far, which could mean that we are going to get reacquainted with the members of this new team before their team-up movie is set to come out.

Ghost was the primary antagonist of Ant-Man and the Wasp, which leads us to believe that she might play a small part in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The new Ant-Man sequel film is bringing back Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeifer, and Evangeline Lily, so it stands to reason that we might see Hanna John-Kamen return as Ghost in that movie before she teams up with the Thunderbolts. Ant-Man 3 is coming out in February of 2023, so it would make sense for Ghost to appear in a cameo of sorts.

Every team needs a dynamic, with every member bringing in something that either aids the group or stifles them. Ghost being antisocial is perfect for the Thunderbolts, as many of the members are crosses between that or being bombastic as possible. Take Red Guardian, for instance. He is outlandish and abrasive, which should make for some great banter between him and Ghost.

We can’t wait to see how Ghost and the rest of the Thunderbolts act with one another, and how Valentina Allegra de Fontaine plans to stop them from wanting to fight each other at every turn. We are not sure if Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is the assumed leader of the group, but we would guess that she is given her role as the sort of Nick Fury-type behavior from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Even if she is not their leader, this movie has us very excited.
