Wondering where the Wayans have been? Well, wonder no more as Deadline has reported that both Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. are teaming up for an upcoming multi-camera sitcom for CBS. Damon senior also will be co-writing the script with former Last Man Standing EP Kevin Hench.

The Wayans will be co-starring in the lead roles of the currently untitled comedy as a father and son. Damon Wayans will play a divorced talk radio host who has to get his son to grow up and embrace adulthood before he turns 40. The father and son will also be executive producing the series along with Hench.

Though the Wayans have enjoyed various film and TV roles separately, Damon Wayans Jr. first starred alongside his father and made his TV acting debut in the My Wife and Kids, which was created and written by the elder Damon Wayans. Since then, Damon Jr. has enjoyed a successful TV career that included major roles in New Girl and Happy Endings.

Out of the Wayans, Damon Jr. has stayed a little busier than his father in recent years. With that being said, Damon senior did have a fairly big role in the Lethal Weapon series when he played Murtaugh for three seasons on Fox. Along with this upcoming comedy series, Damon Wayans will be in the upcoming Pam Grier film Cinnamon, which follows a gas station attendant whose dreams of becoming a singer get complicated when a robbery occurs at her work.

Damon Wayans isn’t the only one of the family with a film on the way, as Damon Wayans Jr. is set to appear in the upcoming Netflix film Players. It follows a New York sportswriter named Mack (Gina Rodriguez) who devises hook-up “plays” with her best friend Adam (Damon Wayans Jr) and is surprised when she starts to fall for one of her marks. Players recently wrapped production and is directed by Trish Sie with a script by Whit Anderson.

As of now, we don’t have release dates for the upcoming movies from The Wayans. Cinnamon and Players are both in the post-production stages. Presumably, these projects will have release dates announced sooner than later.

It’ll be interesting to see the family teaming up to executive produce the upcoming CBS comedy series, as Damon hasn’t produced a TV series since 2006 while Damon Wayans Jr. is new to producing with only a short and a TV movie to his producing credits so far.

Of course, Damon Wayans Jr. is changing that very soon, as he is also currently producing a TV series called Glamorous about a young gender non-conforming queer man working for an iconic makeup mogul (Kim Catrall).

With Damon’s experience and Damon Jr’s fresh perspective, the new comedy series from The Wayans could be something special. The two don’t often miss when it comes to TV shows, so it’ll be interesting to see the two reunited on the small screen after all these years. There’s no word on when we can expect to see this TV series, but we’ll keep you updated as more information comes in.
