The Terror On Netflix Is The Best Season Of Television You Need To Watch
The first season of The Terror has been released for streaming on Netflix to terrify a new audience. The desolate arctic setting of the series, combined with a haunting set of circumstances make the series one of the scariest experiences on streaming. Created by David Kajganich, Max Borenstein, and Alexander Woo, the series explores supernatural themes as well as the dark recesses of the human mind.
Hunted By A Mysterious Specter
The first season of the AMC series The Terror is now on Netflix, bringing its haunting tale to more viewers. A series of misfortunes meet the crew of two ships on a voyage that is slowly stalled and then wrecked as their journey through the Arctic becomes an icy prison, stranding them in hostile terrain. To make matters worse, there’s a deadly specter out in the dark, beyond where the crew can see, and it seems to be hunting them.
The Harrowing “What If” Scenarios
Covering the events of the Franklin Expedition as they attempt to navigate through the Northwest Passage, The Terror Season 1 on Netflix is the fictionalized account of what happened to the crews of the Erebus and the Terror after they were lost in the Arctic. The crews were never found, and the wrecks of their ships weren’t rediscovered until 2014. The mystery of what occurred on the voyage that led to them being stranded is a haunting setting that lends itself to a creeping tale of what-ifs as the series posits a possible scenario to explain the disappearance of the expedition.
The Behind-The-Scenes Dream Team
Ridley Scott, most well-known for the Alien franchise executive produced the first season of The Terror, now streaming on Netflix, for AMC alongside series creator David Kajganich to create an isolated and frozen world that keeps the characters well-stocked with problems to solve, and demons to battle. Kajganich brings a rich background to the team, having a hand in several horror hits, most notably as a producer on the 2018 remake of Suspiria. Production Designer Jonathan McKinstry, well known for his work on Raised by Wolves, built an environment where what lurks in the dark is almost more alarming when you can’t see it.
A Crew Falling Apart
The cast of The Terror does a great job of depicting an unraveling crew up against the most brutal natural elements joined by an angry Arctic spirit, with both relatable and truly frightening performances in the series now available on Netflix. Jarred Harris plays the beleaguered Captain Francis Crozier, Ciarán Hines plays Sir John Franklin, and Tobias Menzies plays Captain James Fitzjames as they battle to maintain order on their rapidly deteriorating expedition. Paul Ready plays a doctor who attempts, mostly unsuccessfully, to persuade his leadership to employ a scientific approach to solving their growing set of problems.

GFR SCORE
Part of what makes The Terror one of the most gripping series on Netflix is that it gets under your skin with a very human story, but adds just enough fictional horror to send your mind into the unknown darkness. It leaves you asking yourself what you would do if you were in their place, trapped in the ice of an unfamiliar ocean and fighting a creature that can’t be identified. The Terror Season 1 will encourage you to explore dark corners in your own life and wonder what could be lurking around the corner.
