The Munsters are back! Rob Zombie has been updating fans for the past few months with behind-the-scenes images of The Munster family, along with his wife doing the same. Sheri Moon Zombie plays the role of Lily Munster, and she has joined her husband in offering some great looks at characters and the set from the upcoming reboot of one of the most beloved classic shows. Well, Rob has now officially dropped the trailer, giving everyone the best look at the family yet. You can see the trailer below:

The trailer does show off a much different film than we were expecting. The Munsters movie seems to be revolved around the love story of Lily and Herman meeting for the first time. Also, it appears as if Grandpa Munster is going to be doing what he can to get rid of Herman. There is an incorporation of some classic monsters, that should excite any fans of classic horror pictures. The above trailer showcases a funny moment with Nosferatu, and it seems to be the Creature from the Black Lagoon is also hanging out with Herman and Lily at one point. This film looks like some deep horror fan service and one that Rob Zombie has waited his entire life to make.

Everyone knows Rob Zombie from his gory films like House of 1000 Corpses and the subsequent sequels that were equal parts horrifying and action-packed. Now, he has shifted gears quite a bit to reboot The Munsters. The film is meant to reignite the love that everyone had with this family from the classic show that came out in the 1960s. However, the film is rated PG, which surprised many people. From the trailer alone, we can see that Rob is trying to recapture the same type of silly nature that the sitcom also possessed. This could lead to a full-blown film franchise, but that will determine how popular the reboot film is.

The Munsters stars Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily, Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa, and Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman, all of which have worked with Rob on his horror films. Also, classic horror icons like Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) and Pat Priest are in the film. Pat played the original Marilyn Munster in the original sitcom. Also, it has been reported that Butch Patrick also has a cameo. Patrick played Eddie Munster in the original sitcom. It is fantastic that Rob convinced some of the original cast to return for this new reboot. There are likely to be a few surprises in the film as well.

The Munsters has been given a release date of September via the above trailer. We are not entirely sure what day that month, but at least fans won’t have to wait too long to see this new take on one of the best sitcom families. We are more than excited to see what Rob Zombie has done with this family, especially considering this is the first PG film that the man has ever created.
