Hello, Wisconsin!!! We are about to head back to Point Place for a sequel to the show that introduced us to the end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s. That’s right, we are getting a That 70s Show sequel, taking place about 15 years after the events of the Fox series. It’s going to be That 90s Show and will feature a number of different original cast members even though it will be recasting the leads in a new story about a different group of teenagers. And we already know that a bunch of original cast members are coming back into the mix, with possibly another on the way.

In a YouTube short with the show Square Table Degenerates, Tommy Chong was asked whether he was involved in any way with That 90s Show. The actor and comedian was quick to a respond with a “Yes” and said that he had already filmed his scenes for the Netflix series. Chong then went on to joke (only kind of) that he wasn’t really supposed to have told anyone that news but that also no one from the series worked that hard to tell him to “shut up”. He is just another in a long line of folks who are going to return for this That 70s Show sequel.

Tommy Chong played the character Leo on That 70s Show, a dude he’ll clearly reprise here for That 90s Show in the sequel series. In the original show, Chong’s Leo is an aging hippie stoner who is onboarded into the story through his relationship with Danny Masterson’s Hyde. The character offered plenty of comedic elements, essentially mirroring the dude he played throughout his Cheech and Chong run. Leo and Hyde work together at Foto Hut and Chong was a part of the show for Seasons 2 and 3, before reappearing for Season 8.

Unfortunately, though Tommy Chong is returning to That 90s Show in some shape or form, Danny Masterson will not be among the other alums coming into the mix. The latter is currently facing sexual assault charges stemming from 2017 allegations that saw him exit another Netflix series, The Ranch when the streamer let him go. But the rest of the That 70s Show group will at least be making cameos with word that Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, and Wilmer Valderrama will all reprise their roles at some point.

That 90s Show will have Grace’s Eric and Prepon’s Donna coming to visit Point Place for the summer, staying with her grandparents Red and Kitty. Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp will star in the series in the same house we came to know and love the first time around. And this series will introduce a new group of friends for Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), ones who more fit that decade’s cliche stereotypes and archetypes.

That 90s Show will move the series from Fox to Netflix though there’s no official word on when it will actually air on the streamer. The expectation is that there will be ten episodes for this first season. Now that we know Tommy Chong is back as well, it remains to be seen if some of the other side characters in the original show will get some screentime as well.
