That ’70s Show is a sitcom that is special to a lot of people, and it seems like the cast of the show is no exception. Laura Prepon, who played Donna in the series, recently talked about her emotional reaction when she showed up on set to film the upcoming sequel series That ’90s Show. During an interview with US Weekly, Prepon talked about how the nostalgia was so strong on set that she cried, saying “It’s so fun. It’s all the same sets. When I first went there, I cried. I’m just like, ‘The nostalgia is so strong and it was such an incredible time in my life.’ I can’t wait for people to see it. I think they’re really, really gonna get a kick out of it.”

This definitely seems like a glowing recommendation for the upcoming That ’90s Show. Fan anticipation is certainly high, especially with the fact that most of the original cast from That ’70s Show will be making appearances at some point in the sequel series. In addition to Prepon, Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Wilmer Valderrama, and Tommy Chong are all set to reprise their roles. Of course, Debra Rupp and Kurtwood Smith will also be returning as Kitty and Red, as they’ll be leads in the series. The rest of the cast is going to be closer to cameos or recurring appearances, whereas Red and Kitty will be prominently featured.

That ’90s Show will instead be focusing on Leia Foreman, the daughter of Eric and Donna, as she visits her grandparents Red and Kitty in Point Place, Wisconsin for the summer. Callie Haverda is playing Leia as she meets the other teens of Point Place, played by Mace Coronel, Ashley Aufderheide, Reyn Doi, Maxwell Acee Donovan, and Samantha Morelos. The one missing piece of the That ’70s Show puzzle will be Danny Masterson, who played Hyde in the original series. Masterson has been charged with multiple counts of rape and has a criminal trial set for August of this year. He also has several civil suits that have been filed by his accusers. That ’90s Show is being released on Netflix, which had already cut ties with Masterson after firing him from their show The Ranch.

That ’70s Show ran for eight seasons and was a fan favorite, helping the careers of stars like Mila Kunis, Topher Grace, and Ashton Kutcher to explode. The show perfectly captured the era it portrayed and offered a lot of humor and heart throughout its runtime. That ’90s Show looks to offer that same experience for those who loved the original. It’ll be interesting to see them pull all of the quintessential 1990s elements into the series, especially since a lot of the viewers who tune in for the sequel series have probably grown up in the ’90s. That ’90s Show is set to run for ten episodes and will be available to stream on Netflix. The show is created by Greg Mettler, Bonnie Turner, and Lindsey Turner. There is no official release date for the series yet, but Netflix likely won’t keep us waiting for that news for too long. Stay tuned for more news on That 90’s Show.
