Tatiana Maslany is becoming a superstar, now that she has been cast as Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk. The newest MCU series has debuted on Disney+ and has already been receiving some huge praise. Although Maslany has been in the public eye previously, she is now using her newest casting as a platform to raise awareness for Trans rights. She wore a Trevor Project t-shirt to the Doctor Strange 2 premiere, which is an organization that promotes suicide prevention for those in the LGBTQ community. She has also been spotted during She-Hulk: Attorney at Law promotions wearing a sweatshirt that says, “Support Trans Futures.”

The reasoning behind wearing the shirts that Tatiana Maslany has was in direct protest of the infamous “Don’t Say Gay” bill that was passed in Florida. This new bill would prohibit teachers from speaking about different sexual orientations to young students, instead of explaining to them at a young age that everyone is different. According to Maslany, “Those [shirts] were a direct response to what was happening, in terms of the bill passed in Florida.” She added, “I felt, as an employee of Disney, that I had to speak. Stand with the people who I stand with. I wanted to let people know, who needed to know, that I was with them.” There has been plenty of controversy surrounding the LGBTQ community and Disney, as CEO Bob Chapek did not openly oppose that bill. This led to massive walkouts from Disney employees in Florida. The same took place in California, another Disney hub, as animators had spoken up about being censored for years when creating Pixar content.

Clearly, Tatiana Maslany understands her current position. She does work for Disney, as Disney owns Marvel. She has chosen to use her platform as a place to peacefully protest and state that she will go to bat for those that are in marginalized communities and the LGBTQ community. People often think that actors should just keep their mouths shut when it comes to sociopolitical topics, but Maslany is a human just like us. She wants to spread awareness, love, and empathy. There is certainly nothing wrong with that.

She-Hulk might be the stepping stone for Tatiana Maslany to get further parts in the MCU. She could very well end up being one of the new Avengers, and it would make sense considering how beloved she already is. Also, the actress has already booked her next series, as she is set to star in Invitation to a Bonfire where she takes on the role of Vera Orlov. Her popularity is going to explode even further, and we expect that she will continue to use her platform to support the LGBTQ community. We commend her for that.

Tatiana Maslany might be one of the most beloved MCU actors that have ever taken on a role in the expansive Marvel world, and she has barely started. We foresee her being even more popular as time goes on. Being an ally to the LGBTQ community is only going to make her stand out even more, especially to those at Disney who protested in Florida passing the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Fans can check Maslany out on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, which is streaming right now on Disney+.
