Taron Egerton is making the media rounds for his latest film, Tetris, in which he stars as Henk Rogers, a real-life video game designer who strove to get the rights to the Tetris video game back from the Soviet Union. It is not surprising, though, that his interview with Collider on that topic soon turned to the other film franchise that made him famous: Kingsman. When asked if there is a Kingsman 3 on the horizon, Egerton confirmed that there is and that he has ideas.

“Yeah, I mean, I have an idea for Kingsman. I have my own idea that I would like to pitch to Matthew, and I think that will be happening soon, but he has the wheels in motion on a big idea of his own.”

He went on to say: “So who knows, you know? Who knows where it will land? But he has every intention of making it, and I have every intention of playing Eggsy one more time. That was always what I thought I was committed to doing.”

So, in other words, Kingsman 3 has always been a given, according to Egerton.

But it isn’t just that he wants to complete the story. He also feels like, “It’s the role that made my name, so I suppose, in a way, I just want it to be absolutely right if we do it again, and I want the story to do justice to the part that really changed my life. I want [Kingsman 3] to be a fitting ending.”

He also commented that he hopes that Colin Firth will return for “at least a part” of the film, and goes on to assure the interviewer and readers alike that Kingsman 3 is definitely on the table. There is no word yet on whether there is a script or what the production schedule would be, but it sounds as if filmmaker Matthew Vaughn (who is responsible for a lot of Taron Egerton’s great roles) is already working on (or at least thinking about) a Kingsman threequel, along with numerous other projects.

The Kingsman franchise began with Kingsman: The Secret Service in 2014, which is about a fictional secret service organization called Kingsman that originated in a comic book series that started in 2012. A street urchin with some real talent is recruited by a spy organization to help take down a tech genius who is threatening the world.

That film was followed by Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which begins after Kingsman’s headquarters are demolished, and the world is under attack. An American branch of Kingsman is discovered, and the two secret agencies are forced to work together to save the world. Kingsman 3 would be released more than six years after the events of this film, so it is unclear if it would pick up where that one left off, or do a time jump of some sort.

While there has been no concrete announcement yet from the filmmaker himself, the fact that Taron Egerton is ready to get started on this project is a good sign that it may be happening sooner rather than later. He always intended to be involved in three Kingsman films, so it only stands to reason that Kingsman 3 is happening at some point.
