In 2022, there may be no other actor that has been discussed more than Sydney Sweeney. As one of the stars of Euphoria, she created a lot of stir, in addition to appearing in The White Lotus. A fashion icon to many fans, Sweeney’s social media presence has steadily increased in the last year or so, developing into an Instagram following of over 14 million followers. Audiences have been on the edge of their seats, wondering what could be next for the rising star. Now, it appears they may have their answer, as the actor has signed on for an upcoming project that will see her go from featured player to leading lady.

According to a report by Deadline, Sydney Sweeney has been cast to star in the science fiction thriller adaptation of The Registration, the upcoming novel by Madison Lawson. Sweeney will produce the adaptation alongside Brad Fuller, who is well-known for frequently collaborating on horror projects like The Purge and A Quiet Place. The Registration is a novel by Madison Lawson about a woman’s struggle to survive in a world where many citizens are allowed to have one legal murder; a premise that sounds inspired by The Purge. Sweeney will play the central figure in the story, Lynell Mize. Hero hero will have 14 days to find out why she has become the target of so many murderers, who are seemingly strangers to her. The book will deal with themes of child abuse and murder, presented in an alternate version of current events.

The news that Syndey Sweeney has jumped at the chance to star and produce an adaptation of The Registration is a welcome surprise considering the novel has yet to be released. According to Goodreads, the book is set to become available to readers on September 27th, and early reviews appear to be solid. With an adaptation already underway, it’s a good sign that Sweeney and team believe the book will do well with readers. It is also a giant step forward for Sweeney, who is mainly known for her performances on cable television as well as bit parts in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the miniseries Sharp Objects with Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson.

It seems that Sydney Sweeney is also confident in her abilities to star in such a colossal project, simultaneously producing it under her Fifty-Fifty Films production company. As Euphoria gears up for season three in the near future, Sweeney has been hard at work promoting both the series and her appearance on the first season of The White Lotus. She has been nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for both shows and may take home a trophy for one of her performances next month. According to IMDB, the actor will next be seen starring alongside Paul Walter Hauser in National Anthem. She is currently filming a spin-off of the popular Spider-Man franchise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe entitled Madame Web, featuring Dakota Johnson and Severance actor Adam Scott.
