There are been more than a few doomed couples in the four seasons of Stranger Things (we still miss you, Sean Astin), but fans are still obsessed with the pairing of Chrissy Cunningham and Eddie Munson. Their all-too-brief relationship was the catalyst for chaos in season four, but fans are likely happy to know the actors behind the characters, Grace Van Dien and Joseph Quinn, are fully aware of fans who “ship” them. Van Dien even acknowledged them in a new tweet, which featured a photo of the two actors. “Hellcheer says hi from our lunch break,” she said in a caption.

ComicBook.com noted the huge response to the tweet by fans, who have “liked” it over 181,000 times so far. “Hellcheer” is the term adopted by fans who “ship” the Eddie and Chrissy characters (“Eddissy” works as well), so they were likely ecstatic that Van Dien addressed them directly. For those who need a refresher, Chrissy was a cheerleader at Hawkins High School, and Eddie was a former classmate, and the two seemed to make a connection until – spoiler – Chrissy died gruesomely at the hands of the Upside Down’s Vecna at the end of the first episode of season four. Eddie would also fall to Vecna by season’s end, but fans haven’t forgotten what could have been, and apparently, neither have the actors.

Joseph Quinn isn’t active on social media – his official Instagram is run by a friend and posts are scarce. Grace Van Dien, however, is quite active on social media, and the 25-year-old Los Angeles native loves engaging with Stranger Things fans. The Netflix hit provided Van Dien’s breakthough role, and she’s keeping Chrissy alive for fans worldwide, especially on her Instagram, where she boasts 1.6 million followers.

Quinn, who seems to shy away from the limelight, did address the Eddie/Chrissy relationship in an interview posted on the Netflix blog. “It would be lovely if there was a world in which (they could) be a pretty uncouth couple at Hawkins High that I think might shake things up a little bit,” he said. Even Stranger Things creator Matt Duffer acknowledged the power of Hellcheer. In an interview, he said the scene in episode one between Eddie and Chrissy in the woods “came alive in a way that was just so beautiful, and so much of that was Joe and Grace,” he said.

Grace Van Dien may be a new face to many Stranger Things viewers, but she comes from a family not only of Hollywood royalty, but actual royalty as well. She is the daughter of actor Casper Van Dien, best known for his roles in Starship Troopers and Sleepy Hollow. She is the great-granddaughter (through her mother) of legendary actor Robert Mitchum (Cape Fear), and she is the granddaughter of Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia (through her stepmother Catherine Oxenberg). She’s a popular Twitch streamer, and her other credits include Hulu’s The Binge and ABC’s The Rookie. She will be seen next in Roost, a thriller from director Amy Redford.

Stranger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, and Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley. Unless there’s a twist no one sees coming, neither Grace Van Dien nor Joseph Quinn is returning for season five (unless a flashback is in order). A release date for season five has not been announced, although reports say it is likely sometime in 2024.
