It looks like Stranger Things Season 5 has its first sign that it's underway and could be coming to Netflix sooner than later

Stranger Things just took over the summer in a big way, bringing about a fourth season that was years in the making and had fans waiting with bated breath for way too long. But when it finally came around, even in its two parts, the payoff was worth the wait. The series cleared up some of the show’s biggest mysteries and set the stage for a final season that could really bring down the house. It’s why seeing signs that Stranger Things Season 5 is already underway should make fans happy, to say the least. Check it out.

After a massive delay between Season 3 and Season 4, there’s always a concern something similar could happen this time around and we’d be waiting years for the story to conclude. That doesn’t look like it’s going to be the case. An image was shared on Twitter that gives the indication that things are rolling ahead here and there’s nothing to worry about.

The Tweet was shared by the @strangerwriters account which is the official account for the show’s writer’s room. They have a massive, 1.3 million followers and have been active in giving updates about the show, the process, and just generally getting fans excited about what’s to come with the series. This picture of the Stranger Things Season 5 storyboard is one of those posts. On the one hand, fans should be pumped at the prospect that this final season’s worth of stories is getting put together in an actionable and tangible way. On the other hand, that board is a little too blank for my tastes. Wouldn’t mind seeing it overflowing with ideas and arcs seeing as how we all want the final round to come sooner than later.

Stranger Things Season 5 isn’t a surprise seeing as how the series was announced to have a fifth and final run of episodes even prior to Season 4 releasing on the streamer. And the delay between Season 3 and Season 4, nearly three years, had a number of factors in there that aren’t likely to be recreated this time around. Namely, the pandemic which caused more than a few production issues along the way. It led to a somewhat disconcerting feel around some of the actors because they’d grown up considerably in the interim, but that isn’t likely to happen this time in such a stark way.

And it will be interesting to see if Stranger Things Season 5 can replicate or even exceed the streaming success of Season 4. When it was all said and done, Stranger Things Season 4, Vol 2 became the second-most watched Netflix series ever on the platform with 1.4 billion hours watched through its first 28 days on the platform. That ran a “close” second to Squid Game which sits at 1.7 billion hours watched. While it didn’t become the top performer, these are still incredible numbers and a testament to the cultural hold Stranger Things still has.

Considering Stranger Things Season 5 will be the final run for The Party and maybe for Hawkins, Indiana in general, we could see it set the record when it is finally released. But by the looks of that whiteboard above, we likely still have quite a bit of time to wait before we find out.
