For Star Wars fans, there seems to be a lot to always look forward to. Audiences recently saw a number of newer series added to the franchise, like The Book of Boba Fett, but for those who have been following a different storyline, there seems to be a lot of hope and excitement for a potential release. A new series set in the High Republic era may be on the way. The High Republic has a large base of fans and readers, so it seems only plausible for a series to now take place.

According to Cinelinx, Lucasfilm is currently working on a new Star Wars live-action series for the very popular streaming site, Disney Plus. However, an interesting thing to note is that the story will actually focus on teenagers, according to the publication. This will definitely be a unique take in the Star Wars cinematic universe and would potentially draw in a much younger audience, especially if it appears on Disney Plus.

According to CBR, the series might have either begun or will begin casting soon, which means the ball has begun rolling. Another hint that something big is coming is the fact that Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm president, made a few hopeful comments at the High Republic Anniversary Show. According to Cinelinx, Kennedy mentioned that due to the great success and critical acclaim of the novels, fans have something to look forward to.

For those who are not too familiar with The High Republic, let’s take a look at what it is all about. According to Deseret, The High Republic is a large collection of audiobooks, comics, and novels that takes place 200 years before the prequel trilogy. The collection seems to be highly popular and has gathered its own close following. Although The High Republic isn’t something for fans to easily just sit down and watch, but rather something to read, the Star Wars universe that it created has sources talking about what is next. If sources for Cinelinx are correct, audiences could expect a High Republic series in the next couple of years.

With the series reportedly in development, Star Wars fans could hear more concrete news sometime in 2022. However, it’s always important to note that while this rumor seems interesting and something work discussing, it should be taken with a grain of salt until official news comes out.

For those who don’t know too much about Lucasfilm, it is a film and television company that has produced iconic Star Wars films such as the original 1977, Star Wars, starring an iconic cast like Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. If Lucasfilm is involved, the finished project is most likely going to be incredibly good.

Star Wars has been an iconic franchise for many generations, and continues to hold a loyal base of fans. The franchise has produced numerous successful films, video games, spinoff television shows and movies. The High Republic era will definitely be interesting to see brought to our screens. Hopefully, more news and information about the series will continue to be dropped, which will lead to a new Star Wars era and storyline for an old fan base, and also a new one.
