Last year, it was announced that actor Jamie Foxx will be starring as the lead character of a vampire hunter in Netflix’s upcoming vampire comedy, Day Shift. Activity around the film has finally picked up again as it has been announced that legendary West Coast rapper, Snoop Dogg, and Scott Adkins, primarily known for his exceptional action movies, have also signed on to join Foxx in the vampire comedy film.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the Netflix vampire thriller Day Shift is set to have a star-studded ensemble cast that now includes Snoop Dogg, Jamie Foxx, Scott Adkins, Dave Franco, Meagan Good, Karla Souza, Eric Lange, Zion Broadnax, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Oliver Masucci, Steve Howey and C.S. Lee.

According to the official synopsis, the storyline of Day Shift will feature Jamie Foxx as a hard-working labourer whose only aim is to earn enough to provide a good life to his clever and intelligent daughter. But it is soon revealed that his simple and seemingly boring pool cleaning job at the San Fernando Valley is just a cover for how he really earns his income: he is part of an international union of vampire hunters and his job is to hunt and kill bloodsuckers.

Both Scott Adkins and Snoop Dogs roles have not been revealed and it’s not known whether they will be posing as fellow vampire hunters or as vampires.  But going by Adkins’ villainous role in Doctor Strange and Snoop Dogg’s 2001 released cult classic, Bones, we would really dig the duo as the bloodthirsty vampires that will prove to be a match for Jamie Foxx’s badass vampire hunter. Judging by Day Shift’s official synopsis, we can expect a more traditional take on the whole vampire-hunting theme i.e., more violent and lusting for blood vampires compared to their recent humanized representation in films and shows.

The Snoop Dogg movie is set to mark J.J. Perry’s directorial debut who is primarily known as a second-unit director and stunt coordinator for popular films like Bloodshot and the John Wick movies. While the script of the film has been penned by Tyler Tice, it has undergone revisions by Shay Hatten, who is yet another person who has connections to the famous John Wick franchise. Previously, he co-wrote the screenplay for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. The film will be produced by Chad Stahelski (who directed John Wick 3) and Jason Spitz for 87Eleven Entertainment as well as Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates Redick for Impossible Dream Entertainment. Datari Turner, Peter Baxter, and also Jamie Fox are on board as executive producers.

Apart from this latest announcement, Snoop Dogg has had a busy year so far. Recently, a new season two trailer for Mythic Quest, featuring Snoop Dogg, was released. The series’ Season 2 is all set to premiere exclusively on Apple TV+ on May 7th. The rapper recently debuted his brand new single, Roaches In My Ashtray, and also announced his 18th studio album, From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites, which is yet to get a release date.
