Silent Hill Reboot Film Happening
A new Silent Hill reboot movie called Return to Silent Hill is being directed by Christophe Gans.
A showcase for Silent Hill streamed yesterday, bringing forth a ton of exciting announcements in the form of a video game remake, and other new ventures. However, one of the more surprising announcements was that a Silent Hill reboot movie is happening, aptly titled Return to Silent Hill. Even more exciting is director Christophe Gans and producer Victor Hadida are both returning, as they worked on the first movie adaptation.
This new Silent Hill reboot movie is said to be based on the story of the Silent Hill 2 video game and focuses more on the psychological horror elements that are going to be mirrored in the video game. However, the movie is being thought of more as a reboot and not a direct sequel. In fact, Gans stated that this script is going to be something completely different and removed from the two movies that preceded it.
The good news is that Gans plans to make this Silent Hill reboot more modernized, while also keeping true to the horror elements that were first introduced in the video game series. He made it a point to showcase and state that the infamous Pyramid Head would be returning as one of the creatures that stalk the main character. Psychological horror is a quite popular genre these days, so we would imagine the new movie is going to be quite taxing to those who get frightened easily.
Gans has also suggested that this new Silent Hill reboot movie will be making its way to theaters in 2023, which is also quite surprising. It appears that the movie has been worked on just as long as the new video games and was kept secret from everyone up until yesterday. We tip our hats to Konami for being able to keep this secret, and we are more than excited to see who is cast in the lead role for the movie.
The Silent Hill reboot is likely to bring back any familiar characters, apart from Pyramid Head of course. However, we could see Sean Bean being brought back to play the tortured husband, as he did a fantastic job of that in the first movie. We should be seeing some sort of casting announcements in the coming weeks considering that the movie is going to be released sometime in 2023.
Fans have been clamoring for this franchise to return, but mostly in terms of the video games produced. The fact that we are now going to be seeing a complementary Silent Hill reboot movie to go along with the video game is going to be fantastic.
Return to Silent Hill is set for a 2023 release date, coming from confirmation by Gans. If 2023 is the confirmed year of release, we should expect this Silent Hill reboot movie to come out sometime in the fall of next year, which would make complete sense. The video game franchise has been one of the best at horror next to Resident Evil, and now we are going to get both a video game and a movie, which we cannot wait to see.
