We’ve all seen Dr. Bruce Banner wild out on the bad guys as the lean, mean, and green Incredible Hulk every time they do something to piss him off. What would happen if a woman was in the same situation, but her powers were received under different circumstances? Tatiana Maslany shows you how she got green in the first trailer for Marvel’s new Disney+ series She-Hulk.

In She-Hulk, Tatiana Maslany plays top-shot Los Angeles lawyer Jennifer Walter. In the comics, she becomes the She-Hulk as a result of a life-saving blood transfusion from none other than her cousin Bruce Banner after mob boss Nicholas Trask sent his gangsters to shoot her as retaliation for spreading a rumor that she had evidence to incriminate him for his crimes. Thankfully, the symptoms of Walters’ newfound powers aren’t as severe as those of her Avenger cousin, which allows her to continue practicing law just as well as she can fighting crime. We only get a glimpse of her green figure, as you’ll see in the trailer below.

Marvel first announced that the She-Hulk series was in the works back in 2019 at D23. Filming for the series was supposed to start in July 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused it to get delayed until April of this year. Then last year, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Tatiana Maslany had been cast to play the titular superhero and Jennifer Walters even after she denied being selected and said reports of her casting was due to a press release gone awry. Mark Ruffalo also announced that he was going to reprise his role as Bruce Banner and the Hulk in the series.

She-Hulk first appeared in the 1980s comic The Savage She-Hulk, written by Stan Lee. As the title of the comic suggests, the gamma-laced blood transfusion made Jennifer Walters as savage and dim-witted as her cousin at first, but she eventually evolves into the fun-loving, less-inhibited version of herself while still maintaining the intelligence she had as a human During her tenure as an Avenger, she dated John Jameson, but fell madly in love with him only after getting hypnotized by her former teammate Starfox; her marriage to him was annulled after Starfox’s actions were revealed.

Tatiana Maslany gained her star power from playing the lead character Sarah Manning in the 2013 BBC America and Space original series Orphan Black. The show surrounds Sarah discovering she is a clone and has sister clones located in various parts of North America and Europe as part of an illegal human cloning experiment, and that someone is plotting to kill them and her. Maslany was also cast in the 2018 drama Pose, but got replaced by Charlayne Woodard after leaving the show when her character was rewritten into a 50-year-old African American woman.

She-Hulk was teased as part of Disney+ Day along with a slate of other Marvel shows, like I Am Groot, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and Spider-Man: Freshman Year, among others. It doesn’t have a set release date, but it will be streaming soon.
