Tom Holland is once again busy proving that he doesn’t need the title or the flashy suit of a superhero to look badass in a role. After Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, it is the upcoming film Uncharted that is being highly awaited by fans of the young actor. Based on the iconic PlayStation video games of the same name created by Naughty Dog, the film will see Holland as thief and treasure hunter Nathan Drake alongside Mark Wahlberg’s Victor Sullivan, his mentor. And to ensure that the hype around the upcoming film never dwindles, Sony Pictures has released an extended clip from Uncharted which is a direct tribute to one of the most memorable sequences from the video games.

When it comes to listing out the best video game under the Uncharted series, Uncharted 3 takes away the prize. And its most memorable sequence is undoubtedly the one where Nathan Drake is running through a cargo plane in mid-flight and fighting off the baddies, only to find himself falling from the plane and hanging on to a cargo net for his dear life. And thankfully, the upcoming live-action cinematic adaptation of the video game is including a perfect re-enactment of this beloved scene as the recently released clip from Uncharted sees Tom Holland as Nathan Drake reliving the deadly battle for his life. Check out the heart-stopping sequence from the film below:

The nearly two-and-a-half-minute scene from Uncharted sees Tom Holland’s Nate facing off against Braddock’s (Tati Gabrielle) and her goons on a plane while Mark Wahlberg’s Victor escapes, with the cargo on board attached to his parachute. Somehow Nate’s leg gets ensnared in one of the boxes and he flies out of the plane even as he desperately tries to climb back in. He eventually manages to do so while dodging bullets and Braddock’s goons. But all his hard work is in vain as a red sports car hits him and throws him off the plane once again, this time with no rescue in sight.

As described by the official synopsis for the Tom Holland starrer, the film will see the witty thief Nathan Drake being recruited by the renowned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan to find “the greatest treasure never found” i.e., the fortune that Ferdinand Magellan lost over 500 years ago. This soon becomes a competition and more importantly a race to save their lives as the ruthless Moncada (Antonio Banderas) is also after the treasure. But there is more at stake than just the treasure worth $5 billion that is just waiting to be discovered- the clues can also lead to Drake’s long-lost brother.

Uncharted is directed by Ruben Fleischer, based on a screenplay by Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway. The producers of the film are Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad while Holland, Marcum, Fleischer, Holloway, David Bernad, Asad Qizilbash, Robert J. Dohrmann, Carter Swan, Neil Druckmann, and Evan Wells are executive producers. Apart from starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, the film’s cast also includes Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas as well as Pilou Asbæk and YouTube personality ElrubiusOMG in undisclosed roles. The film is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on February 18, 2022.
