Watch The Looper Trailer With Director’s Commentary
By now you’ve hopefully seen the trailer for Looper, the new time travel movie from Brick director Rian Johnson. The film follows the story of a man who must kill his future self, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis playing younger and older versions of the same person.
But like any good time travel movie’s trailer should, the teaser raises more questions than it answers. If you’re looking for a more in-depth explanation of what’s happening, Rian Johnson has stepped up to do a trailer commentary for his movie. Watch the Looper trailer along with the movie’s director below…
Johnson brings up a few pretty good points. For instance if you’re wondering why they haven’t made much of an effort to get Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt to look like each other, they have. Johnson says you just can’t see it as well in the trailer. In the context of the film they’ll look far more similar.
He also promises that Emily Blunt, while just a footnote in the trailer, is not just a footnote in the movie. Apparently she’s a pivotal part of the film, but for the purposes of the trailer they chose to focus more on Levitt and Willis facing off against each other.
Here’s the Looper trailer again, without the commentary, just in case you haven’t already seen it…
