Disney is set to make more adaptions to its theme park rides by bringing them to the big screen. Scarlett Johansson signed on to do a Tower Of Terror movie. According to We Got This Covered, the movie is being put on hold due to the recent legal battle between the actress and the company.

Yesterday, news broke that Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against Disney in Los Angeles Superior Court. She alleges the company had broken her contract agreement by releasing Black Widow simultaneously in theaters and on the streaming service Disney Plus. Another part of this deal was that the leading star’s salary was partially tied to the box office, which is currently at $319 million worldwide.

Disney fired back at Scarlett Johansson. In a statement issued, the company said that her claim is a “callous disregard” of the “effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.” It also mentioned that she received $20 million for starring in her final Marvel movie. According to The Wall Street Journal, she was set to lose approximately $50 million or more.

With no confirmation from any of the people involved with the Scarlett Johansson theme park ride movie, it is hard to say definitively if it is put on hold. The lawsuit is fresh enough; we have to wait and see where things go. Depending on how the relationship between Disney and the actress goes, it could result in many different ways for the production of the project.

Scarlett Johansson made her name through the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First appearing in Iron Man 2 as Natasha Romanoff’s debut, she has also been in The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Black Widow marks her last time as the superhero spy, where she is joined by David Harbour (Stranger Things), Florence Pugh (Little Women), and Rachel Weisz (The Mummy). Her farewell to the superhero genre is currently in theaters and on Disney Plus.

Tower of Terror with Scarlett Johansson is set to be written by Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4), who is currently working on a script as last reported. The star will produce through her production company These Pictures with Jonathan Lia. No director is attached as of yet.

Before the planned Tower of Terror movie with Scarlett Johansson, there was an adaption of the ride in 1997. It was directed and written by D.J. MacHale (Are You Afraid of the Dark?). It starred Steve Guttenberg (The Goldbergs), Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), and Nia Peeples (Pretty Little Liars).

If you need an adventure movie based on a classic Disney Ride, you will have to wait indefinitely for this one with Scarlett Johansson. That said, there is the recently released Jungle Cruise. The movie is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows) with writers Michael Green (Blade Runner 2049), Glenn Ficarra (Bad Santa), and John Requa (Bad Santa). It stars Dwayne Johnson (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Emily Blunt (Sicario), Edgar Ramirez (American Crime Story), Jesse Plemons (Fargo), Paul Giamatti (Straight Outta Compton). You can watch it now in theaters or on Disney Plus.
