With Comic-Con rolling through the weekend it stands to reason we are going to be getting all sorts of surprises about new series, ongoing franchises, and more. That’s just the nature of this event with many studios taking the opportunity to reveal projects and castings. We definitely got one of those on Friday with Sarah Michelle Gellar taking the stage to announce that she was coming back to fight some more monsters. It’s been a long time coming. The actress announced that she would be starring in a Teen Wolf spin-off called Wolf Pack. Taking on vampires was so two decades ago. Now, it’s all about fighting werewolves for this actress.

According to Deadline, the new Wolf Pack series will have Sarah Michelle Gellar as one of the leads, starring as an investigator who is trying to find out who started a massive wildfire outside of Los Angeles. As if these occurrences weren’t bad enough in California, this particular fire had some other pretty terrible down chain effects. Namely, it woke up a “supernatural predator” in its wake. I think we are very much looking at that thing being a werewolf, though the log lines for the series didn’t get into specifics. Because the series is based on the books of Edo Van Belkom, we could be looking at Gellar and company fighting a whole host of weird monsters before it’s all said and done.

Joining Sarah Michelle Gellar in Wolf Pack will be the two other stars of the series, Armani Jackson and Bella Shepard. They will play teenagers Everett and Blake whose lives are changed after the fires. Also joining the show is Chloe Rose Robertson as Luna and Tyler Lawrence Gray as Harlan. The series is sure to combine elements of high school drama with the supernatural much in the same way we saw with its predecessor Teen Wolf. Considering this is a follow-up, spin-off to that series, we could see Teen Wolf folks make an appearance before it’s all said and done.

Of course, Sarah Michelle Gellar is no stranger to this type of production. She played Buffy Summers for seven seasons on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The show is considered by some to be one of the best television shows ever made, dealing with a whole slew of themes and leading the way for stronger female characters to take the forefront in young-adult and fantasy-type series. Gellar was one of the main reasons, playing a perfect Buffy throughout her run on the Joss Whedon series.

Wolf Pack will premiere on Paramount+ though the timing for that isn’t exactly clear. It was hinted on the panel that it would be coming sometime later this year to the streamer. Remember, this announcement was made during the Teen Wolf: The Movie panel at Comic-Con. The focus was on that latter production though the series creator Jeff Davis is behind both shows. We are sure to get more details about Sarah Michelle Gellar and Wolf Pack over the coming months.
