Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon is an amazing game to play given the actor’s prolific career across decades, but as a new post on social media reminds us, it might be time to update the game for a new generation. Sarah Michelle Gellar shared a photo of herself with The Last of Us and The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal from Buffy when amazingly, the future hottest star on the planet guest-starred. Six Degrees of Pedro Pascal connects Star Wars, Game of Thrones, the DC Universe, the MCU, Kingsman, Equalizer, and even Narcos to Buffy.

Sarah Michelle Gellar must have caught The Mandalorian season 3 premiere, captioning the photo on Instagram with Pedro Pascal “when #Mother met #Father.” The image is from the first episode of Buffy season 4, “The Freshman,” starring Pascal (under the name Pedro Balmaceda via IMDB) as Eddie, a doomed freshman that, in the grand tradition of decent people entering Buffy’s life, is attacked by vampires. Though it was a small guest role that most people likely never realized was played by Oberyn Martell, it’s amazing that Pascal and Gellar crossed paths at one point.

Both became household names starring in genre shows that spawned spin-offs (Angel and The Book of Boba Fett, respectively), and both have been acting for decades. It’s a shame that the two haven’t been in anything recently, but Sarah Michelle Gellar recently returned to television with Wolf Pack, while Pedro Pascal is one of the busiest actors on the planet. At this very moment, Pascal is in the lead role of the two biggest streaming shows, The Last of Us and The Mandalorian, and amazingly, fans still want to see even more of him.

The throwback photo also reminds everyone that he didn’t always look like the smoldering Javier Pena; back when he was only 24, Pascal looked like a regular young actor. Between his role as a doomed freshman and today, like most actors, he took guest spots in procedurals (every Law & Order, CSI, Body of Proof, Nikita, and so on) before landing recurring roles in Graceland and The Mentalist.

At the same time, Sarah Michelle Gellar was taking a break from acting following the birth of her daughter in 2009. The Scooby-Doo actress returned to television in The CW’s The Ringer and then joined the Star Wars universe herself, providing the voice for the Seventh Sister in Star Wars Rebels. While there’s been no word that she’ll join the live-action side of the franchise, everything is improved by adding 100 percent more Gellar.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Pedro Pascal may have only shared a few scenes during their incredible careers, but this pairing needs to happen again. Could Pascal appear in Wolf Pack as a grizzled lycanthrope, or could Gellar appear as a bounty hunter or back-alley information broker?

Until that happens, Gellar can be seen in Wolf Pack on Paramount+, Pascal in The Mandalorian on Disney+, and The Last of Us on HBO Max.
