The supernatural genre is one of the most popular in the industry, with stories following vampires, werewolves, and other mythical creatures. Paramount+ is adding to the list of shows by bringing back horror icon Sarah Michelle Gellar for their newest supernatural thriller, Wolf Pack. If you are in the mood for something scary and along the lines of Teen Wolf and Interview with a Vampire, Paramount+ dropped the trailer for the new series.

The trailer sees a wildfire ravaging a small town with a pair of teenagers getting attacked by a supernatural being. The two meet with another pair who experienced a similar attack 16 years ago, and they begin to notice they are developing dangerous tendencies. To complicate their lives, Sarah Michelle Gellar, an arsonist investigator, is hot on the trail of the wolf pack.

The series comes from the creator of the werewolf series Teen Wolf, Jeff Davis, and is adapted from the book series by Edo Van Belkom. The first novel in the series was a finalist in the 2005 Aurora Award for Best Long-Form Work in English and created a fantastic world for supernatural beings to flourish. While the series may come from the same creator, Sarah Michelle Geller’s Wolf Pack isn’t a spin-off of the popular teen horror drama.

Davis discussed the actress’s contributions to the horror genre and spoke about how Buffy the Vampire Slayer made him hope he would get the opportunity to work with her. He confessed that the late 90s teen vampire drama significantly influenced Teen Wolf and that he always hoped to get her back to a horror show. He got his wish with her appearance in the new series, which features her trading in her vampire stakes for werewolf silver.

Sarah Michelle Gellar in Wolf Pack

Of course, Sarah Michelle Gellar didn’t randomly choose Wolf Pack as her return project; she is taking on a producing role to help keep the teenage actors safe. She has confessed that her co-star’s terrible experience with Joss Whedon, which she now recalls as toxic, on the set of her career-making show led to the decision to protect the Wolf Pack teens. With her looking out for them, the actors are free to focus on full moons and silver bullets, bringing a hopefully fresh take to the werewolf genre.

Along with Sarah Michelle Gellar, the cast of Wolf Pack includes Rodrigo Santoro (Westworld), Armani Jackson (Honor Society), Bella Shepard (Two Sides), Chloe Rose Robertson (Wild Flower), and Tyler Lawrence Gray (KidCoin). Wolf Pack joins a whole slate of intriguing upcoming titles hitting Paramount+, including the feature film continuation of Jeff Davis’ Teen Wolf, a follow-up season of Jeremy Renner’s Mayor of Kingstown, and an NCIS crossover event.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is one of the most iconic actors in Hollywood, and her return in Wolf Pack is highly anticipated. However, she is iconic for more than simply killing vampires in Sunnydale; her appearances in I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scooby-Doo with her husband make her a literal scream queen. You can catch her and the rest of the cast when Wolf Pack drops on January 26.
