Marvel Studios has one ambitious slate of releases planned for the year 2022 but none of them have the level of secrecy that is attached to its upcoming Disney+ series, Secret Invasion. The studio is tight-lipped about its storyline and apart from a few confirmed characters, the majority of the cast’s roles in the show haven’t even been disclosed yet. But fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are everywhere and they have managed to snap a few pictures of the show’s ongoing production. The photos offer fans a glimpse at Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury filming for the series, along with Emilia Clarke’s secret character, Cobie Smulders, and Ben Mendelsohn.

In the pictures and footage, shared by the Twitter fan page @SInvasionNews, the cast of Secret Invasion is seen filming the series, with Samuel L. Jackson playing his Nick Fury sans his iconic eye-patch this time. Emilia Clarke is also seen in the pictures, decked in simple clothes, carrying a shoulder bag, and sporting a short haircut. While she does seem to be playing a harmless character who is most probably in league with Fury and Hill, given the expected storyline of Secret Invasion nothing can be said with certainty. Check out the images or Samuel L. Jackson, Emilia Clarke, and the rest of the cast below:

Secret Invasion is based on the Marvel comics of the same name. Its storyline featured the Skrulls who had been invading Earth for years while posing as actual superheroes and hiding in plain sight. It remains to be seen how Marvel Studios will be adapting this particular comic book storyline in order to fit it in with its existing arc for MCU Phase IV. Samuel L. Jackson last played the role of Nick Fury, the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., in Spider-Man: Far Away From Home. But by the end of the film, it was discovered that the Skrulls, Talos and Soren, had been impersonating him and Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill on Fury’s order as he was in deep space engrossed in a new mission, which will be explored in Secret Invasion. But by the looks of the above photos, it appears that he will be back on Earth to tie up some loose ends.

Samuel L. Jackson will be leading the cast of Secret Invasion, which will also see Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, the leader of the Skrulls whom we met in Captain Marvel, and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. The additional cast joining these returning MCU characters includes Kingsley Ben-Adir as a “lead villain“, with Olivia Colman, Christopher McDonald, Emilia Clarke, Killian Scott, and Carmen Ejogo also cast in undisclosed roles. It has been reported that McDonald will be playing an original role in the Marvel series and even though his character has never appeared in the comics, he is going to be a part of the MCU’s upcoming series and films.

Apart from reprising his role as Nick Fury, Samuel L. Jackson is also involved in many other projects. After starring in the action thriller The Protege alongside Michael Keaton and Maggie Q in 2021, the actor will be next seen in the spy thriller Argylle and will be playing the titular character in Apple TV+ drama The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey. He has also joined the voice cast of the upcoming animated comedy film, Blazing Samurai.
