Ryan Reynolds is certainly someone that can laugh at himself, and when he had been doing his press tour for Deadpool 2 in 2018, he wanted to outdo himself by appearing on the weirdest TV show possible, enter King of Masked Singer South Korea. The singing mystery game show is much like the one in America called The Masked Singer, and Reynolds recounts being on the show as, “What’s crazy is, I was in actual hell.”

Apparently, Ryan Reynolds got in way over his head when it came to how strange he wanted to make his press tour and being in another country on a singing competition show was about as strange as he could get. He added, “This is truly horrible! I don’t even know this song, I don’t know how to do this. It was traumatic.”

Even though contestants on these shows are completely hidden away from the judges and audience until the big reveal, Ryan Reynolds recounted not being able to remember the song at the time, and his anxiety kicking in. Reynolds has been quite open about his anxiety, and he explained that when he starts to panic, his second more anxious personality kicks in and takes over. We would imagine that singing in front of a crowd when you don’t normally do so would be frightening for anyone concerned.

What might have heightened Ryan Reynolds’s anxiety, even more, is that he was the first westerner to appear on the show. However, despite being absolutely out of his element, the above video shows the massive response that he got from appearing on the show. In fact, everyone was practically screaming their heads off when they saw Reynolds appear, and plenty of people wanted to get his autograph, judges included.

While the above video doesn’t show the singing prowess of Ryan Reynolds or lack thereof, we might get to see his singing ability when Spirited comes out this month. He joins Will Ferrell in a take on the classic Charles Dickens tale, A Christmas Carol. However, from the trailer, we know there is going to be a great deal of singing and dancing incorporated into the new holiday comedy.

Ryan Reynolds did look quite horrified in the video, as he likely attempted to sing “Tomorrow” from the Annie musical with all his heart. What was most hilarious is the judge who thought he could be former President Donald Trump, which is as far as you could possibly get. The good news is that Reynolds survived this horrific happening, and he can now laugh about it, as is his usual custom.

Ryan Reynolds will be reprising his role as Wade Wilson in Deadpool 3 along with Hugh Jackman, when the sequel movie comes out on November 8, 2024. We would imagine that Reynolds is not going to attempt to out strange himself by appearing on a Korean singing competition show, but he could surprise the world once again. Based on recounting the anxiety that he felt from appearing in a singing competition, we would imagine he is not going to be doing another wild appearance like that for marketing purposes.
