Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since Marvel Studios has outlined their movies for the next several years, it would have been safe to assume this would be for a project far in the future. However, Crowe is already on set. We’re going to see him joining Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman in Thor: Love and Thunder. Deadline confirmed his role in the movie after he was spotted on set in Australia.

While Marvel went ahead and confirmed that Russell Crowe is in the movie, they haven’t given us any information about his role. Since it seems like they wanted to keep it secret altogether, it’s likely a cameo and they aren’t likely to tell us. Even if Crowe’s part is extremely small, that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing his character pop up again in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Matt Damon appeared in a brief scene for Thor: Ragnarok. He played another version of Loki. Insiders have claimed that Damon will be reprising that role in Thor: Love and Thunder.

It’s hard to guess what kind of role Russell Crowe may be playing in the upcoming movie. Thor: Ragnarok was such a standapart movie in the MCU. It was hard to predict what would happen next. Love and Thunder is in the hands of the same writer and director, Taika Waititi. In this upcoming movie, we know that we’re going to see Natalie Portman playing Mighty Thor. She’s reprising the role of Jane Foster. Based on the Mighty Thor comics, we’re going to see Natalie Portman pick up the hammer.

It’s possible Crowe could have a role as a human, like a member of Jane Foster’s family or a friend she can talk to about what she’s going through. Of course, it’s hard not to look at Russell Crowe, who is widely built and has a healthy amount of facial hair, and assume that he is drinking beer with Thor in Asgard.

We’ve heard that a lot of Thor: Love and Thunder won’t be taking place on Earth. Brie Larson is also said to be joining the movie as Captain Marvel. Chris Pratt will be meeting up with Chris Hemsworth in this movie as his Guardian’s ofo the Galaxy character, Peter Quill. The villain for both Hemsworth and Portman to face down is being played by Christian Bale. He’s playing Gorr the God Butcher. Overall, there are going to be quite a few actors to watch for in this movie. And at this point, since we only knew about Russell Crowe because of a leak forcing Marvel to confirm it, it’s fair to guess that more on-set secrets will be uncovered in the coming months. Marvel studios loves to keep us guessing.

Unfortunately, Thor: Love and Thunder was delayed a few times. We were supposed to be catching the movie in 2021. At this point, the movie is currently filming. This means our newest release date is hopefully the final one. We’ll be able to catch Russell Crowe in all his Marvel glory soon, when Thor: Love and Thunder releases in theaters May 6, 2022.
