Robert Pattinson hasn’t even officially hit the big screen as the Caped Crusader yet and he’s already apparently receiving praise for what he’s going to bring to the role. Expectations are already high for The Batman, but if these new rumors can be believed then it will live up to the hype. Geekosity has it that Warner Bros. executives are over the moon with what Pattinson has done as Batman and that this next movie is going to be a hit for the studio.

Of course, these are just rumors for the time being, inside reporting about Robert Pattinson in the role of Bruce Wayne/ Batman. But if true, then they point to what could be an excellent reboot of the franchise. The reporting even got specific in regards to where Pattinson sits on the Batman hierarchy with his performance being compared to what Michael Keaton brought to the role a few decades ago. This would be incredibly high praise for the actor, being comped to an iconic turn that helped vault the comic book movie world into a new light back in 1989.

There was the caveat that this inside reporting stemmed from what the studio had seen of Robert Pattinson in the Batman role and not an entire screening of the movie. That’s still in the works with The Batman facing numerous production delays along the way. Originally, we were supposed to get this new movie up on the big screen this month. But the Covid-19 pandemic and regulations meant having to stop production for a longer stretch of time. Now filming has officially wrapped and the final touches are being put on the film.

And it will likely pay for the folks at Warner Bros. to get stoked about what Robert Pattinson is going to bring in the role of Batman. That’s because there’s an entirely new DC universe apparently in the works around this character with the plan to start introducing characters in the Batman orbit over the next couple of films. This first movie will give us Edward Nashton/ The Riddler (Paul Dano), Oswald Cobblepot/ Penguin (Colin Farrell), Selena Kyle/ Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz) and James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) among others.

But Robert Pattinson will soon be joined by others in this new world of Gotham. Giant Freakin Robot has exclusive scoops that signal much bigger plans along these lines. There’s going to be a new Superman in this world for Pattinson to square off against/ team up with. And they are also setting up a new Mr. Freeze as well, someone we haven’t seen in live-action iterations for some time now.

In all, things are looking up for this new version of Batman with Robert Pattinson in the lead role. It was a somewhat surprising casting move at the time, but from early looks and other rumors, things are shaping up like it will really pay off. There had been rumors that he and Matt Reeves could be at odds over this film and even came into some conflict during the starts and stops of the shooting. But there’s hope all of that is behind them and this current rumor points to a great performance. Currently, The Batman is scheduled for a March 4, 2022 release date when we can all evaluate Pattinson’s performance on our own.
