Rachel Weisz’s Dead Ringers adaptation is on the way, and Bloody Disgusting just gave us our first look at her in the series. We get quite a few screenshots of the Mummy actress as the gynecologist Mantle twins, including one with a blood-soaked lab coat. It looks like the series is going to be an exciting take on the David Cronenberg original.

The Rachel Weisz version of Dead Ringers sees a gender swap for the lead role(s), originally played by Jeremy Irons in the Cronenberg film. According to the series synopsis, Weisz’s Mantle twins will be taking on a mission to change the way women birth, though their research may not be legal. Along with starring in the adaptation, Weisz also executive produces.

The Dead Ringers TV adaptation is brought to us by Rachel Weisz, Alice Birch, Annapurna Television, and Morgan Creek. Along with Weisz, the series stars Poppy Liu, Michael Chernus, Emily Meade, Jennean Farmer, Gabi Carrubba, John Wu, and more. The limited series will be an Amazon Original and is set to hit Prime Video on April 21.

It’s been a while since we’ve last seen Rachel Weisz in any projects. In fact, she hasn’t starred in anything since her appearance in 2021’s Black Widow. While we missed out on Weisz performances in 2022, it seems like we should be getting some quality projects in 2023 and beyond.

Along with Rachel Weisz’s Dead Ringers project, she will be starring in an adaptation of the 1961 novel Seance on a Wet Afternoon. The novel was originally adapted to film in 1964 with Richard Attenborough and Kim Stanley in the lead roles. Weisz’s version of Seance on a Wet Afternoon will be directed by Tomas Alfredson (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy).

Seance on a Wet Afternoon follows a self-proclaimed psychic who convinces her husband to kidnap a child, allowing her to prove her abilities to help the police find the child and achieve fame for her abilities. The screenplay adaptation is written by Jack Thorne, who also came up with the story with Harry Bradbeer. Bradbeer was originally on board to direct but will stay on as an executive producer instead.

Rachel Weisz will be pretty busy this year, as she’s also producing the Seance on a Wet Afternoon adaptation and the Dead Ringers adaptation. Weisz is producing under her Apetite Pictures banner. Also on board to produce Seance on a Wet Afternoon are Legendary, Robyn Slovo, Emma Forbes, and Michael Attenborough.

Rachel Weisz’s other project in the works is Love Child, which she stars in alongside Colin Farrell. The film is directed and written by Todd Solondz. The dark comedy tells an Oedipus-like tale of a child who schemes to get rid of his father and have his mother to himself. Killer Films’ Christine Vachon and 2AM’s David Hinojosa produce.

There are no release dates set for Seance on a Wet Afternoon and Love Child. Of course, we’ll keep you updated on all of Rachel Weisz’s latest projects. In the meantime, make sure to check out Dead Ringers when it hits Prime Video in April.
