Quentin Tarantino is set to release a new project with his co-writer on Pulp Fiction, Roger Avary. What makes this new project special is that Avary and Tarantino both worked at Video Archives movie rental store, which Tarantino now owns. This new project is a podcast that will detail both Avary and Tarantino’s journey through their love for films on VHS. The pair will detail what makes the VHS so important, film reviews, and reveal titles that people have likely never heard of but will probably love.

This new podcast project is going to be called The Video Archives Podcast and will be released this summer on Stitcher. Quentin Tarantino and Avary will be going through some 8,000 VHS collection that Video Archives possessed. Some of the titles that will get the deep-dive treatment are controversial James Bond films and surprising exploitation films. The new podcast will, “expose listeners to movies they didn’t know they’d love, give awards to their favorites, and of course, rate the quality of the video transfer.” Anyone who happens to be a budding filmmaker should listen to this podcast, considering the story is about how Tarantino crafted his love of filmmaking and his first scripts due to working at this video rental store.

Pulp Fiction is arguably the most important Quentin Tarantino film and getting to listen to him and Roger Avary speak about its creation, and possibly the films that led to its creation is going to be quite special. This podcast could serve as a jumping-off point for many people who have been aching to get into their own writing process, by listening to recommendations from one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the world. Tarantino has long talked about his process in interviews but getting to hear more about the films that inspired him will be fantastic. Especially considering a lot of the VHS films the pair might discuss will be underground hits that are not known to many people.

The Video Archives Podcast will reunite Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary, and the showrunner for the podcast will be Avary’s daughter, Gala Avary. There are no further details about the podcast being offered on other streaming services besides Stitcher, but it stands to reason it could end up on Spotify and iTunes. This is just speculation, as the news has not included those platforms. Still, Stitcher does offer a ton of podcasts for free, so downloading the app and listening might be easy.

Everyone knows Quentin Tarantino has had a legendary career. Roger Avary, on the other hand, has had a great career of his own. From collaborating on Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, he also has writing credits that include Beowulf, The Rules of Attraction, and Silent Hill. It’s going to be interesting to hear both these filmmakers’ opinions on some of the best VHS films.

The Video Archives Podcast will be launching in the summer, though a concrete release date has not been revealed yet. Considering the summer months are June to August, expect this new Quentin Tarantino project to drop in the coming weeks. Be on the lookout for this special look at what inspired one of the world’s best filmmakers.
