Addison Rae has been cast to appear in an upcoming Eli Roth film entitled Thanksgiving. The film, which promises to be a horror thriller surrounding a Thanksgiving day slasher attacking members of a small Massachusetts town, is based on a short pseudo trailer first presented in the Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez double feature, 2007’s Grindhouse. According to a report from Deadline, the cast also features Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey and Jalen Thomas Brooks, who starred in the CW’s Walker.

Addison Rae started as a social media personality before breaking into major motion pictures. With a Tik Tok following of over 88 million, Rae is one of the most prominent content creators on the platform, earning the title of highest paid Tik Tok personality in 2020. In 2021, Addison Rae ranked on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for her significant social media influence.

Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving segment of Grindhouse has long been rumored to be under production, as fans of the short noted its stylistic strength immediately. With the film finally moving forward and Spyglass producing, attaching a name such as Addison Rae is huge for the production. Rae will certainly provide star power for the underground hit by sharing the film with her massive audience, exemplified by a post on her official Instagram about her casting, which touts over 1,000 supportive comments from excited viewers.

This is not the first Grindhouse short to become a feature film, as Robert Rodriguez’s Machete and Jason Eisener’s Hobo With A Shotgun each went on to become full films. With Addison Rae’s talents mostly falling into the comedic realm, as well as her penchant for making dance videos, it seems likely that the exploitation style of filmmaking that Grindhouse films are stylized after will be utilized for comedic purposes. This should come as no surprise to fans of Eli Roth’s work, as the prolific filmmaker has a long history of blending horror and absurdist comedy.

Addison Rae recently made waves for inking a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix following the success of her leading role in He’s All That, a modern retelling of the 1999 classic She’s All That. This deal is clearly indicative of the Tik Tokers success navigating the Hollywood entertainment industry, which has notably been a difficult hurdle for other online content creators within her niche. Studios have since been lining up to poach the talents of the 22-year-old star, with Thanksgiving being the first announced role since the deal was announced.

As for what’s next for the global Tik Tok talent, we’ll have to wait and see. The Streamy Award-winning creator has had her share of career controversies in the past, though her pivot from short-form media to feature films looks to be going as seamlessly as possible. For Addison Rae, the horror slasher Thanksgiving may be the film that takes her career to the next level, showing audiences of all ages that she’s ready for the big leagues, even if it kills her.
