Fans of Amazon’s Bosch series have a lot to look forward to. In addition to Bosch: Legacy, the first spin-off to branch off from the original series, Deadline says there are two more related series in the pipeline. Like the original Bosch, both will be police procedurals inspired by books written by Michael Connelly.

Bosch was the first drama series to be ordered by Amazon for its online streaming platform Prime Video, making its debut in 2014. It ran for seven seasons – making it by far the platform’s longest-running series so far.

Bosch: Legacy was launched in 2022, a year after the original series ended, and saw titular Detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) return as a retired cop-turned-private eye. While this is also technically a spin-off, many see it as a continuation of the original series.

In a move that is not unlike something they would pull over at the MCU, Amazon recently greenlit two more spin-offs from Bosch in the hopes of creating an entire “TV universe.”

The first of these spin-offs doesn’t have a title yet, but it will be about Harry Bosch’s former partner, Detective Jerry “J.” Edgar. He sets out on an undercover mission for the FBI in Little Haiti, Miami, where the city seems shiny and glamorous on the surface, but trouble is lurking underneath. And like on all good cop shows, he will also be haunted by his past.

While a cast list hasn’t yet been released, rumor has it that the original J. Edgar, Jamie Hector, is in talks to step back into the role.

The second Bosch spin-off is currently untitled. This one will be about female Detective Renee Ballard, who is put in charge of the LAPD’s cold case division. Not only will Detective Ballard be trying to solve unsolved crimes, but she will also be trying to prove that her division should be taken seriously. She wants justice for victims, and she wants everyone to recognize how important that is.

Detective Ballard will obviously be employing some not-very-by-the-book methods of solving crimes, just like her mentor Harry Bosch, and she will also be fighting sexism as a successful woman moving up the ranks in the LAPD. In other words, she’s one busy lady!

While Bosch: Legacy can be viewed on Amazon’s sister platform Freevee, we don’t know yet where viewers will be able to watch the two new spin-offs. In the meantime, season two of Legacy was announced before the first episode of the first season even dropped, so that will be coming this fall.

The original Bosch series has an almost perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, with Legacy hitting the mark exactly. Critics and audiences agree that the show’s throwback style is a perfect match for its somber atmosphere and intriguing crimes that keep you on the edge of your seat.

It is too soon to tell how the new spin-offs will fare, but if they are anything like the other branches of the Bosch tree, they will have lots of armchair detectives on the edge of their seats.
