Will we see Paul Bettany again in the MCU? Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one of the questions that’s prevailed over the last couple of major releases is just who would (or would not) appear on the big screen within the story. Because the Multiverse is in full swing right now there is no shortage of possibilities of characters returning even if it was assumed they were done with the franchise. One of those characters is Paul Bettany as Vision and whether he would make an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There are reasons to expect we could see him at some point, but as with many other talents in this world, Paul Bettany was conspicuously obtuse when discussing the prospect of his inclusion.

While appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (via MovieWeb), Paul Bettany was asked about whether Vision would be included in this next story and the actor played coy, not wanting to let anything on one way or another. This has become something of a staple in this franchise of late with folks having to obfuscate around their upcoming roles, likely because the studio wants to keep as many cool surprises as possible under wraps until the very last second. Check out what Paul Bettany had to say and whether you think this means we are going to see Vision in Doctor Strange 2:

“This is a really great question… You’re asking if I was in… am I in Doctor Strange 2? Yes, no. Yes, no. Yes. No. I don’t know. Am I? What do you think… I can neither confirm nor deny rumors that I am in said and aforementioned Doctor Strange 2.”

Paul Bettany gets it. Yes, no, yes, no might as well sum up the Marvel Cinematic Universe casting situation these days. It was clearly the case in the run-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home, one of the all-time will-they-won’t-they scenarios in movie history. The amount of rumoring around that flick was unlike anything we’ve ever seen and in the end, we realized that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield had been keeping the secret (even from close friends) for years. Paul Bettany appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is totally possible, even if the actor is purposefully confusing in this response. If anything, the confusion just makes me think even more that we will see some form of Vision in this movie.

And the fate of Paul Bettany as Vision need not be beholden to what has happened with the character in the past. We originally saw him die in Avengers: Infinity War only to have him come back and star in WandaVision when Elizabeth Olsen’s character is able to “bring him back” as part of her creation. And with the Multiverse, we could see a version of White Vision make an appearance, the next logical progression of the character if they wanted to bring Paul Bettany back on screen considering we saw him in the last series. Since Olsen’s Maximoff is set to have a big role in this movie, speculation around Paul Bettany returning has only ramped up.

All these Paul Bettany questions will be answered soon enough with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits the big screen on May 6th. We are sure to be dealt more than a few surprises in this movie with major implications for the universe as a whole. It’s going to be a wild ride.
