Did Oscar Isaac Just Reveal Moon Knight Season 2 Is Happening?
Wait, did Oscar Isaac really just say that Moon Knight season 2 actually is happening or was that just a fake-out?
Following a major cliffhanger at the end of Moon Knight’s debut season, the show seemed destined to return for a second outing. Especially since the mid-credits scene revealed that Marc Spector/Stephen Grant’s third alter ego, Jake Lockley is still working with Khonshu. While Disney hasn’t made an official announcement, Oscar Isaac and Mohammed Diab recently appeared in a TikTok video where they strongly suggest that a second season is definitely in the works.
The clip, which was retweeted by the director, features the pair pondering whether or not Moon Knight will get a second season. While Diab feigns confusion, Oscar Isaac responds with, “Why else would we be in Cairo?” While the footage seemingly doubles down on the notion that the series is coming back, it’s contrary to several reports which said the actor was not under a long-term contract to continue appearing in the MCU. This means a new deal would be required, with a likely pay raise following Moon Knight’s success.

Although these implications never stated that Oscar Isaac couldn’t return to the role, it heavily implied that he was not meant to be a regular within the greater Marvel franchise. Moreover, the show didn’t get the same attention that previous Marvel series like WandaVision and Loki did. But now it seems very possible that a new season could easily fit into one of the blank spaces in the studio’s upcoming Phase 6 timeline. That could put Moon Knight on track to join the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Based on the character created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, Moon Knight was adapted for television by Jeremy Slater who served as head writer for the show. Mohamed Diab skillfully led the directing team. Starring alongside Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight is Ethan Hawke as cult leader Arthur Harrow. The supporting cast includes May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly / Scarlet Scarab, Karim El-Hakim, and F. Murray Abraham as Khonshu, as well as Sofia Danu and Saba Mubarak as Ammit.
The story follows a gift shop worker named Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) who is tormented by blackouts and memories of a different life. After a few harrowing experiences, Steven eventually realizes he shares his body with a mercenary named Marc Spector. Adding to his already complicated life, Marc’s enemies start to converge on them before Steven can wrap his head around anything. Now, both personalities are forced to navigate their lives as they stumble into a deadly mystery involving the powerful gods of Egypt.
Moon Knight made his comic book debut in 1975’s Werewolf by Night #32. Just like the series, he is the alter ego of a Jewish-American rabbi’s son named Marc Spector who grew up to become a heavyweight boxer and Marine. Spector is a mercenary with several distinct identities, including taxi driver Jake Lockley and millionaire playboy Steven Grant. These different personalities help him to take on bad guys in the criminal underworld. The first season of the popular Oscar Isaac series is currently streaming on Disney+.
