Neve Campbell To Star In New Series
Neve Campbell may not be returning to her best franchise, but she has now been cast as the lead in a drama series that will be produced for ABC.
It was quite upsetting to find out that Neve Campbell would not be returning to the Scream franchise. Her character Sydney Prescott was the focal point of most of the killings that took place in the town of Woodsboro. Campbell claimed that she was not offered the right amount of money for being a figurehead of a franchise. Although she is not returning to horror, she is continuing her acting career in a big way. She will now be starring in an ABC drama series called Avalon.
This new series is being adapted from a short story by Michael Connelly, which has been adapted by David E. Kelley. Connelly’s work has been adapted before, as Kelley created the hit series The Lincoln Lawyer, from one of Connell’s other works. Neve Campbell also held a role in The Lincoln Lawyer, reuniting her with Kelley. She is also set to return for The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 as a recurring character. Campbell may not be returning as a legacy character for the Scream franchise, but she is doing quite well in the world of television.
Avalon takes place in the city of Avalon, which is located on Catalina Island. Neve Campbell takes on the role of L.A. Sheriff Detective, Nicole “Nic” Searcy. She holds a small office on the island and keeps tabs on the tourists that visit the island every day. Every day the ferries arrive, they bring loads of different people who all have different stories. Detective Searcy is then pulled into a career-defining mystery that challenges everything she knows about herself and the island she calls home. Nic Searcy is the only office stationed on the island, and she stands firm on her moral grounds. However, her less-than-perfect morals are what got her stationed on the island in the first place. Although Avalon seems like a desolate place to work as a Detective, Nic finds out she is needed far more on the island than initially intended.
Neve Campbell is ramping up her television roles lately. Apart from appearing in The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 as a recurring character, she now heads up Avalon. She has also been cast in the highly anticipated Twisted Metal series. Twisted Metal is an adaptation of one of the most popular video games in history. She joins a cast that includes Anthony Mackie, Thomas Haden Church, Will Arnett, Stephanie Beatriz, and Mike Mitchell. Campbell will be taking on the role of Raven, in the series. Raven drives the vehicle known as Shadow.
While we wish that Neve Campbell was returning to Scream, we are happy that she is getting far more opportunities in the TV game. We still think that Scream 6 is going to break out one of the best fake-outs in cinema history, by saying Sidney Prescott is not involved, only to have her appear in some capacity. At least, that is the hope. For now, everyone can wait to see the actress appear in any one of her many upcoming TV roles. We honestly can’t wait to see her in Twisted Metal.
