Netflix’s breakout comedy Emily In Paris will be around for a lot longer thanks to a recent multi-season renewal at the streaming giant. After season one of Emily in Paris earned Netflix some highly coveted Emmys in 2021, season 2 dropped in late December to wildly impressive numbers for the platform. As a result, Deadline reports that Netflix has agreed to not only renew the show through season 3, but fans can look forward to the streamer giving it a season 4as well.

The outlet reports that the show from acclaimed creator Darren Star, best known for hit TV like Sex and the City, Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place, raked in an estimated 107.6 million hours in its debut week on December 22. This more than earns it a spot in Netflix’s Global Top Ten list for English-language series, second only to The Witcher, which had 168 million viewers watch its second season. This isn’t surprising given that the show previously earned itself a second season by being a particularly intriguing show among Netflix users

In 2020, at the height of the pandemic when many only had Netflix to turn to, Emily in Paris season 1 was watched by close to 58 million households in just the first month after its release. Starring Lily Collins as the titular Emily, the Netflix show follows a young marketing executive who is sent to Paris to work with a luxury fashion boutique in Paris that her company has acquired. As TV Line notes, in addition to her professional life being in flux, her personal life is at a bit of a crossroads as well in season 2 as she begins to struggle with her relationships and being caught in a love triangle between two men. However, at least this time around she had more of a grasp on the city of Paris.

Without spoiling anything that happens in season 2 of the Netflix hit, Lily Collins’ character certainly has a lot more of her story left to tell and there’s plenty of runway for not just a third season but even more after that in her professional and personal life. Variety reports that the next season of Emily in Paris will film, as the others did, at Netflix’s Studios in Paris on the outskirts of the French capital in the spring or summer, meaning there will still be a bit of time between the end of season 2 and when fans can figure out how it all shook out for the main character. However, the outlet notes that some other locations in Europe are being explored, such as taking Emily to London. However, nothing is confirmed.

Showing off more of Europe would be a good idea for the show, which has faced some criticism for portraying stereotypical depictions of its non-American characters and even demonstrated a bit of a lack of understanding of the geography of the city that’s in the Netflix show’s title. Fortunately, it seems that there will be a lot more time and episodes for Emily in Paris to make amends and win more people over.
