Music Legend Doesn’t Want Johnny Depp To Portray Him In Biopic
Ozzy Osbourne has stated he doesn't want Johnny Depp to portray him in his upcoming biopic.
The public opinion of Johnny Depp has certainly changed in the last few months, with the actor now making his eventual comeback to the big screen. However, Ozzy Osbourne has stated that he would not want someone like Johnny Depp to play him in his upcoming biopic that is set to reveal the musician’s relationship with his wife Sharon from 1979 to 1996. According to Ozzy, “I don’t want to have anyone like Johnny Depp act as me, I would rather have someone who is relatively unknown.”
While Ozzy Osbourne certainly wants to pass over Johnny Depp to portray him, he did state that he would like to see Depp portray him some 10 years ago when he was promoting his autobiography, I Am Ozzy. We would imagine that his temperament and taste have changed since then, and now the Prince of Darkness certainly doesn’t want to see the famed Pirates actor step into his shoes. He is doing a bit of service to the acting community by requesting that more of an unknown actor is given the shot to portray him in this upcoming biopic.
Ozzy Osbourne may not want Johnny Depp to portray him, but he has agreed to let the darkest secrets of his past life be shown in this upcoming movie. When he was asked if the darkest moments of his life are good to be shown on the big screen, he gave the most Ozzy answer, by stating, “I don’t give a s***.” You have to hand it to the man, at least he is going about this biopic with an open mind, which isn’t the typical thing to do most of the time, as some musicians want to have some darker details written out in the story of their lives.
Sharon Osbourne also revealed that this biopic is not intended to be something grand like Bohemian Rhapsody, which covered the life of Freddie Mercury and Queen. She stated that the movie was a “Hallmark movie.” She also stated that the biopic of her and Ozzy is going to be made for adults and meant for adults, and though Ozzy Osbourne has made up his mind, we could easily see Johnny Depp step into the role of a more adult biopic.
This biopic about Ozzy Osbourne is meant to detail his drug addiction and violent episodes, including one where he nearly strangled Sharon to death, and that is something that Johnny Depp might not want to be involved with right now. That is considering he was just involved in a trial that named him as an abusive husband. The Ozzy and Sharon biopic is said to have been in development two years ago.
We are not entirely sure when this Ozzy Osbourne biopic is going to be released, but we would imagine he could change his mind and welcome Johnny Depp to play an older version of him in the movie. However, no casting announcements have been made thus far, so we will have to wait and see who ends up portraying the Prince of Darkness. Hopefully, the movie is going to be released sometime in 2023 and is going to have a great soundtrack to go along with it.
