The loss of the great character actor Paul Sorvino was a blow to Hollywood. The actor was known for portraying tough guys, but off-screen Sorvino was beloved by friends and family alike. In the wake of his death, there has been an outpouring of kind words about Sorvino from celebrities on social media. Perhaps one of the most touching and heartfelt comes from his daughter, Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino. See her tribute to her father below:

As far as acting talent goes, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree for Paul Sorvino. Mira Sorvino earned an Oscar for her work in 1995’s The Mighty Aphrodite. After receiving the award, the actress thanked her father, who was moved to tears by the gesture. As you can see from Mira’s tribute, the love between her and her father runs deep. In addition to being survived by Mira, Sorvino is also survived by his wife Dee Dee Sorvino and his other children Michael and Amanda. Sorvino passed away due to natural causes at the age of 83 in his home.

Mira Sorvino will carry on the legacy of her father as she continues to appear in various roles and projects. She recently starred in the Starz series Shining Vale, which told the story of a family moving into a small-town house where atrocities have taken place. Sorvino stars alongside Courtney Cox, Gregg Kinnear, Gus Birney, and Dylan Gage. She also has several upcoming projects, such as Sound of Freedom and Lamborghini. In Sound of Freedom, Mira Mira Sorvino will star as Catherine Ballard opposite Jim Caviezel’s Tim Ballard. The film is a biopic about Tim Ballard, who quits his government job to devote his life to reducing children from sex trafficking. Lamborghini will tell the life story of Ferruccio Lamborghini, with Frank Grillo in the lead role.

As evidenced by Mira Sorvino and other celebrities’ Tweets, Paul Sorvino will be greatly missed. Fortunately, he will live on through his work. If you haven’t seen Sorvino’s work in some time, now is a great time to check out some of the options. Of course, Goodfellas is as good of a place to start as any. The Martin Scorsese-directed gangster classic also stars the late Ray Liotta, with Sorvino appearing as the character Paul Cicero. Joe Pesci, Robert De Niro, and Lorraine Bracco also star. Tony Sirico, another well-known character actor who passed earlier this month, also has a small role in the film. Sirico is best known for his role as Paulie Walnuts in The Sopranos. If you’re looking for some more roles to check out from Sorvino, make sure to watch Where’s Poppa, Dick Tracy, The Rocketeer, Nixon, Romeo+Juliet, and Godfather of Harlem. You can also see him in the early seasons of Law & Order. According to his IMDb, there may still be some final roles from Paul Sorvino for us to enjoy, with production supposedly complete on the films Pursued and The Ride. The film My Jurassic Place is in production, so it’s unclear if Sorvino will have filmed enough material for his role.
