Michael B. Jordan is making his directorial debut with Creed 3, but he has now stated that the movie is going to be making history. In a new IMAX behind-the-scenes featurette for the movie, Jordan explains that this new sports movie is the first of its kind to be filmed using IMAX cameras. Normally, big-budget action and Marvel movies utilize these cameras to give audiences a bigger sense of the scope of the movie, and it appears that is exactly what Jordan was hoping for in his anticipated sequel.

According to the above video, Michael B. Jordan says that using the IMAX cameras allows the audience to take in Creed 3 in a way that you “normally couldn’t” if the production had used normal film cameras. This is certainly true, and as we mentioned above, the usage of these cameras is to truly bring the audience in on another level of vision and scope of whatever movie happens to utilize those fantastic cameras. We had already been excited to see this new chapter in the Rocky universe, but this news makes us that much more excited.

Michael B. Jordan stars in Creed 3 as Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed, one of Rocky’s biggest adversaries. However, now that some years and plenty of matches have passed, Adonis is at the top of his game. One of his best friends from childhood, Damian Anderson, is released from prison and seeks out Adonis for one reason — to fight for what he believes is his. Now, Adonis must take on Damian to prove that all he has was through hard work, and Damian is fighting to prove that Creed is living the life that belongs to him.

The trailers alone have shown that Michael B. Jordan certainly knows what he is doing with Creed 3, as the movie looks to be like the kind of drama and comeback story that most of the films in the Rocky franchise have been. The fact that the movie was filmed with IMAX cameras just means that we are now going to get to see the boxing matches in super high definition and on a much larger screen. For those who have been to IMAX theaters, you know the quality of the picture and sound is second to none, so we would imagine that knockouts are going to look incredible.

Michael B. Jordan has taken the reins for Creed 3, which is the newest chapter in the extended Rocky franchise that initially saw Sylvester Stallone return to the universe as Rocky Balboa in Creed and Creed 2. However, Stallone has since boycotted the franchise because the longtime producer of the franchise, Irwin Winkler, has not opted to pass over the rights to Stallone. Still, the franchise is alive and well with Jordan at the helm, despite the drama surrounding the movie.

Michael B. Jordan will return as Adonis in Creed 3, which officially debuts in theaters on March 3, 2023. The world will get to see Jordan face off against the hugely popular Jonathan Majors, who is taking on the role of Damian. With the usage of IMAX cameras, we can’t wait to see these guys throw down, even if it is choreographed fighting.
